Kenya’s healthcare system is at a breaking point due to the catastrophic failure of the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF). Introduced as part of universal health coverage (UHC) reforms, SHA was meant to replace NHIF and provide affordable, quality healthcare for all Kenyans. Instead, its rollout has been marred by financial mismanagement, inadequate benefits, and poor implementation leaving millions struggling to access essential medical services. Reports reveal that many hospitals, especially in rural areas, receive less than Ksh100,000 from SHIF far too little for operations. Patients still face high out-of-pocket costs despite mandatory contributions, while healthcare workers struggle with delayed payments and resource shortages. The #HealthCrisisKE campaign is calling for urgent action. We demand transparency and accountability in SHA fund management, an independent audit of SHIF operations, and comprehensive policy reforms to ensure Kenyans receive the healthcare they deserve. The government must prioritize the well-being of its citizens over political interests and financial misappropriation. Attending impactful event sponsored by @StrathU and @KenyaHealthFed on "Advancing Gender Equity in Leadership: Dissemination of Research Findings and Recommendations" Diving into groundbreaking research on the current state of women in health leadership in Kenya.

Recommendations on feedback from the county after Public Participation were raised as many felt the process is repetitive without substantial results. We are hopeful that the County's good reception to the Recommendations will be effected in the subsequent Public participations.

Public participation ensures our concerns are prioritised and accurately captured. We were today in Matungu Sub County for the County Fiscal Strategy Paper Public Participation that saw constituents from the Sub County share their priority areas.

As members of the Kakamega County Community of Practice, we have today convened for the review of the CFSP to get the County's priorities,projections, ceilings for the 2025/2026 FY as well as the performance for the previous year. We have been able to highlight key priorities

We were privileged to be a part of the National Learning forum by @KCDF that sought to Facilitate peer-to-peer learning among CoP members across six regions, enhancing best practices in social accountability. We continue to learn and get best practices in how we bolster our CoP

We are today having our sports dialogue under #DefendRecordYako project by @siasaplace in Namamali Ward,Matungu Sub County Kakamega County. The activity Is aimed at bring together young people to discuss their roles in active citizenry by leveraging on sports.

I’m deeply appalled and outraged by the viral video circulating on social media showing the brutal and inhumane assault of a blogger in Mombasa County. This despicable act of violence, allegedly carried out as punishment for exposing corruption, is not only a gross violation of human rights but also an attack on the fundamental principles of free speech and press freedom. No one should ever be subjected to such cruel, degrading treatment for exercising their right to expose wrongdoing or corruption. Acts of violence, intimidation, and sexual abuse have no place in our society and should be met with swift and unequivocal justice. @DCI_Kenya investigate this incident thoroughly and hold those responsible accountable for their heinous actions. The government should also reaffirm its commitment to protecting whistleblowers, journalists, and bloggers who play a crucial role in upholding transparency and good governance. We must, as a society, reject any form of violence used to silence truth-tellers. Together, we must foster an environment where freedom of speech is protected and where the voices of those who speak out against corruption are heard, not brutalized. Justice must prevail. #JusticeForBruce
