I keep seeing MAGA/Trump people, including V.P. Vance, say the Iran deal now is different from Obama's 2015 deal because "we (U.S.) are not giving them (Iran) a red cent of U.S. money." The Obama deal did NOT give any $ from the U.S. Treasury. It unfroze Iranian money/assets.

@DavidShuster The $1.7 billion was money Iran paid back in 1979 for weapons plus accrued interest. Why accrued interest? Because the World Court was just about to hand down a verdict calling for more damages to Iran than the $1.7 billion.

The Trump deal is also unfreezing Iranian money/assets and lifting sanctions. However, the Trump deal is also "ensuring" Iran receives $300 Billion in reconstruction investment. So, Iran is receiving a lot more $$$ from Trump than from Obama.

It's depressing watching independents flock to Platner, the guy with a rap sheet of abuse allegations from exes, a Nazi-style Totenkopf tattoo he covered up, Reddit posts mocking sexual assault victims and teen suicide attempts, plus sexting multiple women early in his marriage. Maine deserves better than this mess. Collins might not be perfect, but this is nightmare fuel.
