Get Your App Ready for April 9 Starting April 9, the Base App supports all standard web apps, not just mini apps. If you've been building on the Farcaster mini-app spec, there are a few things to do before the cutover. The quick gut check: does your app work in a mobile browser with a connected wallet and no Farcaster context? If yes, you're good. We covered the full scope of changes in our earlier post. Three things to check off, and where to go if you need help. 1. Register on Base.dev If you haven't already, create a project at Base.dev and fill in your app metadata. This is how the Base App surfaces your app for search and discovery. If you registered previously, your metadata has already been backfilled and you don't need to do anything here. 2. Switch to Sign-In with Ethereum The Farcaster SDK signIn method won't work in the Base App after April 9. The replacement is SIWE (Sign-In with Ethereum) using wagmi and viem. Your app authenticates through the connected wallet address instead of a Farcaster identity. This is the biggest change for most builders. The migration docs walk through the full setup with code examples. 3. Audit your Farcaster SDK usage If you're using other Farcaster SDK the migration docs include a full compatibility table with the replacement for each method.

If you’re building on @base, don’t sleep on this. Base App gets a lot leaner on April 9. If your app still depends on Farcaster-specific sign-in or context, you’ve got updates to make. Farcaster sign-in stops working in @baseapp after April 9. SIWE (Sign-In with Ethereum) is the new standard. Less platform-specific friction. Less confusion for users. More apps that just work. Get your app ready. Things are about to move a lot faster on Base.
