Most people running ads in 2026 are still confused about one thing.
ABO or CBO. Which one do you use?
Here’s the answer nobody gives you clearly.
Both. But at different stages.
ABO — Ad Set Budget Optimisation
Use this when you’re testing. You control the budget per ad set. You guarantee every creative gets enough spend to generate real data. Use this when you don’t know what works yet.
CBO — Campaign Budget Optimisation
Use this when you’re scaling. You set one campaign budget and let Meta decide where to push it based on real time performance. Use this when you already know what works and want the algorithm to maximise it.
That’s it.
But, if you ask me privately… I’ll say “Use CBO always, it doesn’t matter if you’re testing or scaling. Use CBO, it is always more profitable”.
However, there’s a unique system you must put in place if you want to be profitable.

That aside, if you’re still spending less than 100k/day— use ABO for test and CBO for scaling.
