Most young fathers in Nigeria aren’t struggling loudly. They’re surviving quietly. And that silence hides a heavy burden. A thread on the unspoken weight of modern Nigerian fatherhood: 👇🏾

@Baffan_umma Well said. Most of the real impact comes from fewer, intentional actions, not endless task lists.

The biggest trap in modern productivity is confusing being busy with being productive. By wednesday it's easy to look at a long list of completed tasks and feel accomplished. But if you step back , how many of those tasks actually moved the needle toward you long term goals?. Quality over volume. Intention over speed.

@Dikachi289705 This is real. A lot of fathers aren’t just providing, they’re carrying the weight quietly so their homes don’t feel it.

@YoungDadLife Father's are truly burning bridges just to keep up with their family needs. Yet the cost of those bridges still follows them home. The late nights, the silent stress, the “I’m fine” when they’re not. They break so their kids don’t have to. Thanks for creating awareness.

@DieoHosen It’s the same principle in fatherhood too, people often don’t see the hours, patience, and consistency behind what looks “simple” from the outside.

"I’ve always wanted this hair, but you people ain’t easy.” She told me another salon quoted her UGX 1 million last year and said they didn’t have time for her. This morning at 9am, she walked up and asked why we charge “almost two cows” just for hair 😂 I asked her to tell me more. She explained her experience. Then I calmly broke down the reality: ✅ 12+ hours of work ✅ Small, precise portions locked one by one ✅ Skill, patience, and long-term hair health By the end of the conversation, she wasn’t complaining about the price anymore. She asked to be booked in two weeks. Most times, it’s not the cost but rather understanding the value behind it. Ladies thinking of sisterlocs or microlocs: What is your biggest question about sisterlocs pricing?

@Its_olayimika Same way in life and fatherhood, you don’t just measure value by immediate money or pressure. You think long-term stability and growth.

Manchester United are preparing a €70 million bid for Barcelona left back Alejandro Balde, according to reports from Spain. The 22 year old Spanish international has been one of Barcelona’s brightest talents, but the club is reportedly open to a painful sale to raise funds under La Liga’s strict financial rules, potentially to help finance the return of Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, who Hansi Flick admires. United see Balde as the perfect modern full back to transform their defence and transition play. Would be a huge statement from the Red Devils if it goes through. What do you think, should Barcelona let him go for €70m?

@Dc_Atuegwu Honestly, the biggest red flag isn’t that he took the phone back. It’s that both of them seemed to be treating the relationship like a transaction.

My neighbor had a serious argument with her boyfriend a few days back. We later found out that it was money fight. He said he spends nothing less than 100- 200k on her monthly but it's never enough. I was shocked hearing that in this economy, someone spends that much on a woman he's not even married to. After the fight, I quietly asked her, "but how do you spend so much in less than a month?" She told me skincare, hair and food. Well, looking at the skin, it doesn't reflect but what's even my business?…. Last night, she called me crying, when I asked what the matter was, she said her boyfriend has taken back the iPhone he got and said he's done. She said it's because after that fight they had, she told him that she's not doing again if he doesn't apologize with money bouquet and roses...

I was starting to like this man until he told me why his engagement ended. I was on a second date with a man, and I was beginning to like him. He worked in the military, was a few years older than me, and was quite handsome. As we were talking, the conversation shifted to past relationships. He mentioned that he had once been engaged. "Oh, what happened?" I asked. With a slight smile on his face, he replied, "We called it off because I cheated on her." The way he said it caught me off guard. He sounded proud of it, as if it was some kind of achievement. There was no remorse, no "I was foolish back then," or "I regret hurting her." Nothing. He said it with a smile, completely unbothered by the fact that he had betrayed someone who was planning to spend the rest of her life with him. He actually seemed to enjoy telling the story. I was instantly disgusted. Up until that moment, I really liked him. But after I got home that night, I cut off all communication with him. Would you continue dating someone who proudly admits to cheating in a past relationship?

@DieoHosen A big Amen to this. Your dad sounds like one of those quiet heroes. He may have worked a small government job, but the impact he made on your life is priceless. Respect to him. 😎

Being a father more so a present father isn't an easy task. This reminds me of how I saw my own dad struggle to provide for my siblings and I from the little government job. It wasn't paying much, but he made sure we lived in the comfort of what he built. Dear dads, you may think no one cares or sees the sacrifices, but believe me, we do and appreciate you. At night, we say a prayer over you that the good Lord will make it lighter for you.

I remember when we were expecting our baby Anaya. In a single heartbeat, my entire world shifted. I wasn't just navigating my own life anymore. I was going to be a father. A protector. A provider. Suddenly, this fierce, primal urge took over. I wanted to build an empire. I wanted to conquer the world just so I could hand it to her. I started working longer hours. My mind was constantly racing with strategies, revenue goals, and timelines. I thought that’s what a "real man" was supposed to do, hustle until he bled to secure the future. But one night, the house was completely still. I sat on the edge of the bed and placed my hand gently on my wife’s growing belly. And then, I felt it. A tiny, unmistakable kick against my palm. In that quiet room, it hit me like a wave. Anaya, didn't care about an empire. She didn't need me to conquer the world before she arrived. She just needed me. She needed her dad to be fully present. That was the exact moment I realized the greatest provision a father can offer isn’t financial. It’s emotional. It’s time. To every young dad out there pulling late nights and feeling the heavy pressure to produce: Build your future, absolutely. But don't get so caught up in providing a life for them that you forget to live life with them. The most important empire you will ever build is already sitting inside your living room. Dads, how did your perspective on the grind change the moment you found out you were having a baby? 👇

Stop waiting for the perfect moment. Stop doubting your abilities. Stop letting fear decide your future.Every great achievement begins with a decision to move forward, even when the path is unclear. The difference between those who succeed and those who don't is often simple—they refused to quit. Believe in yourself, take the next step, and keep going. Your future is built by what you do today, not by what you plan to do tomorrow.

For 17 years an Air Canada pilot flew Boeing 777s across the world with a fake licence. 900 flights. Tens of thousands of passengers. Zero incidents. He passed every safety check. Every six months. For 17 years. Air Canada said safety was never compromised. Knowing all of this would you get on a plane with a pilot who does not have the required licence but has never once failed? 😳

This one hit right in the chest. As someone watching young dads around me, yeah… we really do carry it all in silence. No one sees the mental calculator running 24/7 or the way we kill our own needs so the kids don’t feel the heat. Appreciate you putting this thread out. Sometimes we just need to hear “you’re not alone in the quiet grind”
