The initiative marks a significant milestone in advancing digital learning, enhancing classroom experiences, and equipping learners with the skills required to thrive in the digital age.

Today,PS Bitok joined officials from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy at the flagoff ceremony for the distribution of laptops and interactive smart boards to Junior Schools across the country under the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project

The event provided an opportunity to recognize and reward exceptional performance while inspiring students to pursue excellence in academics, innovation, sports, and co-curricular activities. 4/4

He emphasized the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening the education sector through investments in infrastructure, digital learning, competency-based education, and policies that support equitable access to quality education for all learners.3/4

In attendance were DA, Mr. Fred Mwei, Head of the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-curricular Activities Mr. Nelson Sifuna, Wajir CDE Dr. Koriyow Hussein Ali & Deputy Director of Education and Executive Secretary of the Kenya Music and Drama Festival, Ms. Janet Langat.

The four-day programme will feature discussions on policy, innovation, leadership, skills development and community-based learning as the Ministry continues to advance transformative and inclusive education initiatives across the country.

DG, Dr. Elyas Abdi today led a meeting with field officers from the Ministry of Education and TSC in Wajir County to assess preparedness for the upcoming Madaraka Day celebrations themed “Education, Skills and the Future.”

Proud of the remarkable progress being made ahead of this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir County under the theme “Education, Skills and The Future.” Today, my team on the ground, led by Mr. Nelson Sifuna, Head of the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-curricular Activities, inspected the ongoing refurbishment of 10 classrooms at Wagberi Primary School alongside the construction of 2 new classrooms. 1. The approved Capitation for primary school is capped at Ksh 1,400 per year. The funds are usually released by the National Treasury to the Ministry of Education on termly basis in the ratio of 50:30:20. 2. ⁠The capitation amount is arrived at based on clear expenditure lines (vote heads) that are determined by estimated costs incurred by EACH learner. 3. ⁠Upon receipt of the money, and based on the exact amount received, MoE releases the funds with an accompanying circular detailing the expenditure breakdown (vote heads). 4. ⁠The figures in reference to the circular are based on this practice. 5. ⁠In summary, MoE wishes to clarify the following: • MoE determines how much money is allocated to each vote head based on the total amount of capitation received from the National Treasury • Capitation funds are released on three phases corresponding to the school calendar terms • ⁠The circular in reference is based on the 2nd term tranche as received from National Treasury. • ⁠The amounts shown are per learner, not per school -The KSh 95.25 PER LEARNER is for learning materials only (books, stationery, etc.) -The KSh 93.08 PER LEARNER for school operations (staff, maintenance, utilities, exams) @EduMinKenya @_BasicEdu

It is with deep sorrow that I mourn the passing of Prof Raphael Munavu, a distinguished scholar and passionate champion of education whose lifelong service greatly shaped learning in our country. I honour his visionary leadership and invaluable contribution as Chair of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reform, where he helped strengthen the Competency-Based Education (CBE) pathway and chart a stronger future for our education sector. As we reflect on his extraordinary legacy, we are reminded of the noble duty to continue building an education system that is inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the dreams of every Kenyan child. That is the cause to which he dedicated his life. On behalf of the State Department for Basic Education @_BasicEdu and on my own behalf, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire education fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace!

As Government, we are creating diverse platforms where our children and young people can showcase their wide range of talents and express themselves with freedom, confidence and creativity.

But the creative industry is no longer just space for artistic expression, hobby and entertainment. It has grown into a formidable economic opportunity through which millions are monetising their talents.

I am pleased that our young people are more than ready to seize these opportunities judging by the compelling performances we have witnessed at the annual school and colleges' drama fete. Together with Mama Rachel Ruto, I was honoured to host the 64th Kenya Schools and Colleges National Drama Festivals, State House Nairobi.

The PS wished all participating students, coaches, and officials success, emphasizing the importance of fair, honest, and spirited competition, and reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing talent through school sports.

The national championship, running from April 4th–11th, has brought together over 40 teams from across the country competing in rugby 15s, basketball, hockey, handball, and athletics across key venues including Kisumu Boys High School, Maseno School, and Kisumu School.

PS @JuliusKBitok today officially launched the 2026 Brookside Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term One Games at Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu.
