A year in the making!! Wish I had this growing up - we collaborated with @UofTCardio DICE to give our mentees an early sim lab experience in cardiology One of many initiatives in @_GirlSySTEM UNITY+ stream, uplifting our mentees from marginalized groups #RepresentationMatters

We had an awesome end to our month long workshop series with DICE x @_GirlSySTEM mentorship group! Students from high school to medical school learned radial, femoral, IJ access, bedside echo, deployed stents in PCI, and deployed TAVI and ASD closure devices in our sim lab!!

Highlights from our 2 very different, but equally inspiring events last week: 1) Battle of the Surgical Specialties @UofT DICE Team ft. all-star surgeons from @UHN @UofTUpsurge @UofTSurgery 2) Overcoming self-stigmas & becoming a confident leader in STEM @StepAboveStigma

HUGE thanks to our amazing friends @UofTSurgery @UofTUpsurge for an insightful discussion on life as a surgeon for our DICE x @_GirlSySTEM collab! Biggest themes: surgery is an art & science, ORs range in terms of acuity/complexity, planning + troubleshooting is major 🔑!!
