You've got to bear in mind that the increase in income from this is extremely marginal in the grand scheme of a £4bn football club. But the cost for the normal fan is HUGE.

@Markus_Milarepa He's already heavily involved with LFC, so it won't be a matter of stepping back in - just putting more focus I'd guess. Maybe Julian Ward will come in as sporting director, but Edwards will do more of the LFC work next season. We'll have to see, depends if Hughes does go.

@Markus_Milarepa Either that or he might want to leave because of it. I reckon he'll probably just see out the last year of his contract (coz I'm sure it pays well).

So Hughes AND Slot both now reported to be leaving by reliable journos. That's a big overhaul. Turns out FSG ARE ruthless, coz that is major chopping block stuff. They were never going to be happy with a 450m£ spend getting this return in the end of the day...

I mean he's obviously chatting complete wham on Van Dijk but you don't need me to tell you that. I'm just interested if people think it's *crazy* to rate VVD as your No1. I know a lot of people don't see defenders as proper footballers!

@crobinson1980 All in all, with so many big figures leaving or potentially leaving (whether you think they should be or not), we are in for a *real* transition season next year. They gotta be very careful in their recruitment this summer, and if a new manager is coming in he MUST be the right 1

@_LukeFC Yeah I thought he was behind Diaz and Klopp was Nunez but who knows..and yeah, it was probably due to Klopps growing influence on transfers but again 🤷

@crobinson1980 Could've been something to do with Klopp's growing influence. Coz Ward was the director when Nunez was signed, but FSG have always said that signing was led by Klopp. If that's the case, maybe Ward left because he didn't like working under that arrangement as well? Who knows.

@crobinson1980 Yeah I think he left to pursue like private investment ventures or something similar, and then that obviously hasn't worked out and so he returned to the club albeit in a lesser capacity than if he had stayed.

@6_times_royalty True, but it's all becoming real now. People think this season was a transition, we could be in for a roller coaster ride next season!

@crobinson1980 I do personally believe Hughes will leave if Slot does. I think they are sort of "politically" connected behind the scenes. FSG won't feel it's a big deal if Hughes goes either, coz Julian Ward is right there to step in.

@crobinson1980 Slot news is from BILD/Hesse. Hughes links to Saudi was confirmed by Fabrizio etc (not that he was necessarily going tbf, but that they want him). Nothing from the local patch yet, I'd assume they'll deny the Slot news - which they should tbf when we've still got games to play.

@A_GymGuy But given it's so close to the end of the season now. It makes sense he might just want to wait for this mess to be over and not wade into it.

@A_GymGuy Either that, or he's been embattled in long negotiations over how much power he's gonna have - and those have only just ended. Hesse has said that he wants more control over player signings in the summer (something I don't think Slot had last summer), for example.
