@crobinson1980 Slot news is from BILD/Hesse. Hughes links to Saudi was confirmed by Fabrizio etc (not that he was necessarily going tbf, but that they want him). Nothing from the local patch yet, I'd assume they'll deny the Slot news - which they should tbf when we've still got games to play.

So Hughes AND Slot both now reported to be leaving by reliable journos. That's a big overhaul. Turns out FSG ARE ruthless, coz that is major chopping block stuff. They were never going to be happy with a 450m£ spend getting this return in the end of the day...

@A_GymGuy Either that, or he's been embattled in long negotiations over how much power he's gonna have - and those have only just ended. Hesse has said that he wants more control over player signings in the summer (something I don't think Slot had last summer), for example.

Also interesting how it's highlighted that Alonso wants certain concessions and such in terms of the power he has as a "Head Coach". I wonder if the higher ups at FSG think the Head Coach model hasn't worked? Too much disconnect in squad planning (summer looked like that)?

I'm sure it'll be denied ASAP by our Jimbo, but as it should be. There's still games to play. Doesn't mean it's not true. Hesse is very close to Alonso's camp, so he's probably found out he's coming here and then turned that into a "Slot's leaving" headline, naturally.

Liverpool will be drawing up a list of possible replacements in the coming weeks, with work undoubtedly already started. They have sounded out replacements in recent weeks and it could be a summer of change on and off the pitch, with discussions over Salah’s future starting before he went away to the Africa Cup of Nations either side of Christmas. @FedeRed_LFC @JoshLFC1909 He may have said he won't accept to leave in a sale. He has that power with a year left. And so they compromise like this, FSG get the wages gone and Salah gets to go where he wants (and cash in the transfer fee as a signing bonus). Straight out of the Ramy Abbas playbook.

@_LukeFC @JoshLFC1909 I don't think that's the main reason... rather it's the fact that Mo Salah wants to have the option of continuing in europe to available which wouldn't have been made available had he chosen to be sold by liverpool. With that being said, saudi is still there ofc.

@alonso_chu64256 Looks like what we were saying mate. Mutually beneficial for both parties. FSG get the wages gone, Mo gets the transfer fee from his next club as his signing bonus. Plus, Mo's ego is happy from not having been shipped out/sold. Ramy Abbas will be doing lectures again! 😂

On lukefc.substack.com I discussed how the debacle in December was so aggressively countered by the FSG PR machine, and how it suggested an eagerness to sell Salah asap. It'll be very interesting to see where he goes as well as the nature of the deal and when it was agreed.🤔
