@SBN_Ricky Jabari Smith is nowhere near the prospect the top 3 guys in this draft are and I’m seeing them behind Graves and Tanner frequently on big boards. It’s insane groupthink from the ‘draft twitter’ community who seem to be unable to value anything but college advanced metrics.

It’s fine for metrics like Bart and KenPom to have a slice of the pie re: tournament seeding, maybe take a team up or down one seed line. But when they’re dropping the team that is 28th in strength of record and 37th Wins Above Bubble to Dayton, I think that’s going too far

Yes. And if we gave Miami their own schedule and played it out 500 more times, they’d lose multiple games in 498 of them. And they lost one in this one, and were a coin flip away from losing a handful of others. That means they go in the at large pool, and every evaluative metric says they’re a mostly middling team and that lots of other teams are better. And I bet most of them wouldn’t have lost to UMass in the most important game of the season It was a magical fun ride of luck for a random team and then the luck ran out, and it’s not that hard to be honest about it

@wheatonbrando @bendog28 They won every game! Every bubble team wouldn’t have been able to go 31-0 with their schedule. Also the NIT doesn’t even take every regular season champions anymore, so congrats about being wrong about that too!

@_MikeRoth @bendog28 Yes, it qualifies them for an NIT berth and some games against decent opponents. Not every team is playing for the same thing. That’s true for the majors too and we all know it so no need to pretend otherwise.

@wheatonbrando @bendog28 The regular season doesn’t matter at all for them? My lord, might as well just cancel all mid major regular seasons. Just play one week in March and that’s all that matters.

@bendog28 miami shouldnt be in the tournament. they're a side attraction. there are probably 25 better teams at home watching because people are obsessed with a goose egg that doesnt even exist anymore. lucking into a couple coin flip outcomes doesnt magically make you a tournament team.

Hardest games to pick in the first weekend are St Johns vs Kansas Arkansas vs Wisconsin 4 good teams and 3 of those teams are playing great ball right now.
