@lisavsworld @Stephsaguudefan 99% is a gross overestimation. I've lived with multiple fat people and its always just been large portion per meal that seems more common. I have a binge ED, but im actually underweight ironically. So I think maybe its more 50% of overweight ppl have a binge ED def not 99

I was one of the rare people to have gained a lot of weight who didn't have a binge eating disorder (BED). But I would estimate 99% of people who make it to this size have that particular disorder. And no, this isn't food addiction... food addiction doesn't actually exist. BED is a type of toxic ritualistic behavior where you trap yourself in a cycle of binging and use external stimuli and internalized trauma to keep yourself there. Let me explain... There are several moral issues that reside within the disorder, and I am sure you can guess what a few of them are... lack of personal responsibility, lack of grit/ability to engage in hard work, and of course, over indulgence. However, there is one core moral issue that reinforces the disorder above all others... and that is pathological lying. You lie about how much you're eating. You hide food so others cannot see how much you intend to eat, you eat in secret, you say you had a stressful day or haven't eaten at all, so that is why you're eating more at this meal (used as a cover when you're around others). The lying isn't just about food, however. You also lie about why you're obese in the first place. "I have PCOS, I have hypothyroidism, I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome..." Yes, I am very aware that I (the author here) have/had all three of those diseases... but what is the difference? When I found out I had them... I treated them and LOST WEIGHT. I did not use them as an excuse to go on being fat. This isn't even getting into how they will often claim to have one or more of these diseases, but are not officially diagnosed. Very "trust me bro" health issues. But then if you bring up how their weight must be affecting their health--"Nah! All my secondary health issues (i.e. joint pain, shortness of breath, high blood pressure, etc.) are unrelated to my size! Actually, I am healthy at this size. Just look at my blood work!" Yes. They are both fat due to their health, but their fatness doesn't affect their health at the same time. In fact, you will often hear, "I am meant to be this size. It's genetic!" So how does all of this relate to being what is known as a "Disney Adult?" It really is a multifaceted issue. But, it is definitely correlated with their BED. Lack of personal responsibility is an indicator of failed maturation. People who do not want to take responsibility for themselves are more likely to engage in childlike behavior--tantrums, selfish actions, (again) over indulgence, and of course obsession with things meant for children. Now, let me be clear... I think you can be an adult and enjoy going to Disney. I think you can be a *single* and *childless* adult and enjoy going to Disney. I certainly did the four or so times I went. But there is a difference between eating a slice of cake on your birthday and making your whole life about cake. Now, here is where we really get into the weeds of why Disney is a part of the toxic ritualistic reinforcement of BED. As I said, people with this disorder will often use external stimuli in order to justify their over indulgence. "I walked so much today! I need to eat extra! I'm on vacation! It's okay to let loose here! Ouch! I stubbed my toe and I need ice cream to make myself feel better!" And then of course we reinforce some more with the lying, "I never eat this much at home. I'm really treating myself today!" As for the internalized trauma piece... Why do you think they're overeating in the first place? It is to tamp down the anxiety they are experiencing without having to deal with whatever caused that anxiety in the first place. That is why the external stimuli is needed. You take away the stressor, the drama, the excitement... all that is left are your issues staring you in the face. And the more you don't deal with them, the more issues you've created which in turn help keep the cycle of reinforcement going. BED is a cycle of toxicity meant to reinforce bad behavior, not contend with poor choices, reduce the anxiety around past traumas, but now also the anxiety around one's clearly failing health. "If I just keep lying to myself, the problem will go away! If I keep engaging in these stressful behaviors, I can continue overeating! If I keep going to Disney and stay a forever child, I'll never have to deal with the responsibilities of being an adult!" It's a lot to take in, but I hope I have enlightened a few of you with what exactly is going on here. And with that said, thank you for listening to this rant of mine on fatness. Maybe now you understand why I disliked being super fat so much. It's one thing to have health issues... it's another thing entirely to be associated with these people.
