@MAYERMAKES @_vojam @arturo182 Cost and size of a bus switch and PD controller for type-C was prohibitve. SoC has only 1 USB3 Superspeed controller, so I suggested this way to expose both host and peripheral mode support while remaining standard compliant. It is also compatible with common USB2/HS cables.

@Jadon @MAYERMAKES @arturo182 Yea, the type-C has its drawbacks in terms of overall cost... My opinion regarding dev boards is that they need to be very user-centric. I assume not many people have that kind of cable at home, but on the other side, you can use standard micro USB which is good.

Almost all founders learn brutal lessons during the first year, but some learn them much more quickly. Obviously those founders are more likely to succeed. So it could be a useful heuristic to ask, say 6 to 12 months in, "Have we learned our brutal lesson yet?"
