🌍 Land is our most valuable natural resource. But the way we use and value land is changing to meet the twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss, whilst supporting our vital farming and forestry sectors. This rapid change calls for innovative and responsive approaches to how we own, manage, and use land, balancing needs and ambitions with delivering wide public, community, and private value. Research by @CLESThinkDo for the Commission looked at various governance models in Scotland and abroad, offering valuable lessons for land governance. The report, and summary that looks at lessons for Scottish land reform, are both available now on our website. landcommission.gov.scot/news-events/ne…

Good Practice Advisor, Uwe Stoneman, at today’s @IUCNpeat Peatlands Programme Conference in Aviemore helping to deliver a workshop looking at how and why peatland projects should provide community benefits 🌿 With over 400 people in attendance at the conference taking part in workshops like this, it is a fantastic forum to discuss some of the challenges and opportunities to unlocking community benefits from nature restoration. #PeatConf24

‘We have a happy engaged community with buy-in to what we’re doing. We went from engaging the community in what we’re doing, to proactive strategic planning with the community. ‘Sharing @ScottishLandCom protocols with the community has been brilliant’ #SLEconf24 @luss_estates

Great to chat to @ArianeBurgessHI about land reform at this crucial time! The Bill is understandably a key focus, but worth noting there’s a lot more to Scotland’s land reform journey and @ScottishLandCom’s work! Our summary doc: landcommission.gov.scot/downloads/65f1… #LandReform

ClimateXChange - @climatexchange.bsky.social
Climate-related disadvantage is often driven by a limited capacity to prepare for and recover from hazard events like flooding. Supporting the most socially vulnerable to make property-level adaptations would reduce negative outcomes. Read our report: buff.ly/3J0b2kS
