@seandsweeney 100% agree. I might have a horse in the race here, but I’d even predict a shift toward analog experiences specifically - IRL experiences that aren’t too reliant on tech to enable them. Real, authentic, tangible experiences to counteract digital life

If I had to bet on one trend coming it would be the retreat from social media and online life. Private clubs, IRL events and detox from being online 24/7. I’m seeing it more and more every day and my Spidey senses are tingling. Lots of business opportunity.

For one of our roles, which is essentially a performer, we use self-tapes as the first step. Standard in the acting world, but unusual to others, so we keep it simple: film a 60-second phone video, answer a couple of prompts, no editing needed. It shows us who is genuinely interested enough to put in a little effort, whether they can follow directions, and how they handle basic submission steps. More importantly, it gives us a first glimpse into personality, communication style, and patterns. Since our hosts need to connect with strangers every day, that spark you notice right away really matters, and their ability to work through simple challenges (like submitting a video) does too. We do not rely on the tape alone, the in-person interview is where you truly see it, but this step helps with the first sift through an applicant pool. We have also explored paid observation shifts for candidates in later stages. Almost like a stage, but used as an opportunity for them to experience the role and culture first-hand, and for us to see fit on both sides.

Resumes feel like a terrible way to source hires. It’s very difficult for any intangible attributes to come through. There has to be a better way to screen for personality, motivation, skill set, character, culture fit, etc.. than some flat one shelter.

Reminds me of getting 4 custom 10’ sofas to our first location—dock blocked, no lift gate, unloaded street-side. Too big for the elevators, so we rolled each one up the building’s spiral ramped walkway, all the way to the 4th floor, on furniture dollies They were delivered & installed at location 2 😂

3 years ago today we had 315 chairs delivered to our house. One of the things you don’t really think about when building from the ground up is where are you going to put all your equipment/furniture before opening? We were coming off Covid era and we couldn’t risk anything being delayed so had to order it probably a bit too early. We did get a storage unit but it’s not like we could meet the delivery truck there, they gave us like a 8 hour window of when they might show up. So we had to store them in our garage. Eventually moved them to storage by renting a uhaul but all the stacks of chairs fell over inside the truck and we couldn’t get the door open 😂 took us a long time to get those bad boys unloaded.

Incredibly excited to see @SandboxVR #58 officially launched in Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 Beyond the futuristic world-class VR experiences and robotics bar, the location also grounds in tradition with @GuinnessIreland on tap 🍻

I love this stage of the build-out. The walls are up, and you can finally walk through what was once just a blueprint. It finally feels real—but this is the part where things start changing fast. The big transformation is right around the corner.

@damonhemmerding Makes a big difference to see the continuity here versus signage as an afterthought. Do you work with the same signage vendor for each tenant or case by case?

Landlords should want their tenants to have awesome signs. At Camp North End, we give a separate signage allowance (on top of our regular TI) to help ensure this happens.

Is there a easy to use service for background checks?? I will be hiring more freelancers soon but need a quick way to make sure they aren't crazies. Thanks.

props to her. Brick and mortar ain’t a breeze. Staffing, training, scheduling, call-outs, cleaning and maintaining a facility, weather issues (not in FL ☀️), broken water heaters 👀 But getting to see your customers use and love your product (and getting feedback to improve in real-time) is 🔥

Hundreds of questions on the studio this week. I can’t overstate this enough, this shit is NOT EASY. My wife is the Jalen Brunson of heated mat pilates. I just get to tweet daily updates from the bath. This doesn’t work without her.

Haha fair fair - they’re pretty common types of commercial leases. Would help determine who covers which expenses. Id venture to guess you’re on one of these, so you’re probably on the hook for *some* utility repairs but maybe not all (like HVAC if there is a main unit servicing other tenants)

Wow first L at the studio. Water heater is completely fried. Do I fight with the landlord? Just suck it up? Assumed when I signed a 7 year lease everything should be working fine.
