@aaronwalker While I agree that Jupyter is better than a spreadsheet, I vehemently dispute that Jupyter is a better environment for writing code which processes data than, say, RStudio or the R plugin for JetBrains IDEs.

Counterpoint: notebooks make code harder to reuse, harder to test, harder to refactor, and harder to maintain. They therefore have essentially no place in software _engineering_, which is the discipline dedicated to the creation of testable, maintainable, reusable code.

@1ovthafew Notebooks are useful when the outcome isn’t code but data. The code is just a useful way to explain how you reached your outcome. They are an improvement over the alternative approach. The spreadsheet 😜

Unless you need to display graphs within your code, you have essentially no use for a notebook.
