When a child is not healthy, that child will not thrive in school. For example, if a child has difficulty seeing, they will have difficulty reading and learning. Tragically, that is the case for too many Ohio children. Today, all Ohio children are required to get a vision screening test in school, but most who fail the screening rarely get a comprehensive follow-up eye exam to determine if they need eyeglasses. Today, I’m announcing the creation of the Children’s Vision Strike Force. This group will work with vision care professionals in every corner of Ohio to scale proven models that bring comprehensive follow-up eye exams directly to schools. #OhioSOTS24
