Many of you blamed Gadkari for contaminated petrol, assuming Modi had no role in it. But now, with the BJP officially defending this contamination, it is clear that ethanol is being pushed into your engines at the directive of Modi himself. And of course, anyone opposing ethanol is now being labelled anti-national. Because apparently, even your car’s engine must prove its nationalism now.

The outrage over E20 fuel is driven more by politics than facts. Ethanol blending in India has never been a sudden switch. It has been a carefully phased transition over the years: • E10 rollout began in phases and became the nationwide standard. • E12/E15 levels were introduced progressively in several regions. • E16 and E18 followed as blending levels increased in a calibrated manner. • E20 has now been introduced in a phased manner, not overnight. This means the ethanol content in petrol has increased gradually over the years, not in one dramatic jump. So, those claiming their car’s mileage has suddenly collapsed or that their vehicle has suddenly developed problems because of ethanol-blended fuel are making a claim that simply doesn’t align with how the rollout has actually happened. If a vehicle has been running on progressively higher ethanol blends for years, blaming E20 for an abrupt overnight change is political opportunism, not evidence-based argument. Facts matter. Fearmongering doesn’t.

That means if you want to buy a kilo, it would cost around ₹7,200 per kilo. Then he bought a packet of chips which cost $2.5, that is, ₹240. The thing to think about is how a simple vegetable in India becomes so expensive in another country. So friends, distant drums only seem pleasant; no country is better than our India. Would you be able to spend ₹606 on 85 grams of okra?
