The degree to which complete strangers are now surveiling each other is unreal.
4 days ago, it was 39f, no wind. We parked 250' from the door to the meat store. The walk took 45 seconds. Our baby was in (light pink) thick wool tights.
This random lady whips her phone out, snaps a picture, and lambastes us publicly online.
She had no idea we were only walking 250 feet, nor that we were only outside for 45 seconds. She clearly couldn't tell that the baby was in light-pink tights, nor that they were thick wool. And she didn't know that our baby SWEATS when she naps, takes her hat off, and literally coos with joy when she finally gets to cool off.
So we figured a 45-second cool-down was totally harmless. This lady disagreed.
These days, you are always being watched and graded on your *perceived* conduct by parochial social media vigilantes armed with cameras. It's like the paparazzi but for normal people.
Who knows what could come of this kind of thing? How easy is it to be misinterpreted in public? There is no grace, no chill -- the judgements are instant and damning. This is very common.
I don't really care what the woman thinks about us, but I do understand why some young people are nervous to have kids. If you have kids, you'll be watched on an extremely granular level when in public -- and there will be photographic evidence for even the smallest perceived misjudgement.

When I worked at Goldman Sachs we had an unwritten rule where we’d automatically approve an applicant’s loan if they were wearing a kippah, tallit, shtreimel, gartel, or similar
You can walk into any large bank wearing a kippah and they will give you a loan with zero interest. They won’t even check your credit score (yes, even if you’re black)

In my country, Hatzollah operates largely in Bondi, and is a 'designated first responder'. This means that I could be a raging antisemite, but if I was drowning (on Shabbat), and 000 operators told Hatzollah to attend the emergency, Shlomo, Moshe, and Solomon would have no choice but to attend as quickly as they could, and diligently use their skills and training to save my life. They could not refuse to go. And they could not choose to provide me with a lower standard of care than they would give to their most respected Rabbi, for example. And if the nearest hospital is a Jewish hospital, they must take me there, and the Jewish doctors cannot refuse to treat me.
Now, if you'd like to start a Catholic or Protestant ambulance service, and you're willing to abide by the same rules, then knock yourself out* - otherwise, sit down.

I would never choose to be black, but I would rather be myself forced to pick cotton in the Antebellum South than be myself forced to experience "diversity" from the 1990s to today. How is this even a question? Cotton-picking slaves were taken from a chaotic tribal life, living moment to moment like animals, and they were given cars and apartments and grocery stores. Their population grew from a few hundred thousand to 40 million. Most of them live on free resources given to them by White people. White people created everything of value and had it stolen from us, are being openly abused and killed by low-IQ "outdoor people" who don't belong here, and we have no access to the things that we created.
