Minister of Roads & Bridges Peter Lam Both, impeccably suited with gold watch gleaming, squats in the dust and trash of a Central Equatoria roadside, listening to a shattered father clutching his gravely ill young daughter her tiny body wrapped in rags, fighting desperately for life as her world falls apart. A kind gesture? Yes, and it brings tears in the moment. But it screams unforgivable failure of a system that has utterly abandoned its people. While high officials glide past in convoys, draped in luxury fine suits shiny accessories endless privileges, the ordinary citizen begs in the dirt for basic mercy, for medicine that should be a fundamental right, not a humiliating roadside plea. Salaries vanish for months, hospitals stand empty like ghosts, dignity is crushed under relentless neglect, and fathers watch their children suffer and fade in helpless humiliated silence. This is not true leadership; it's fleeting charity masking a cruel entrenched systemic betrayal. True justice and compassion demand so much more: a South Sudan where no desperate father ever kneels in garbage cradling his dying child praying for a minister's passing kindness to salvage the last shred of hope. South Sudan is that corrupt African country we saw in Hollywood movies growing up. Illegal Mining, Unprofessional Army, Militias everywhere and dozens of civilians dying everyday for no concrete reason, Government controlled by individuals.

Dr Majak Agot claims the youth are more corrupt than the elders serving in Government. Yet the same old guards have clutched power for decades, turning our nation into a graveyard of broken dreams while pointing fingers at the young. They looted the future, mismanaged the present, and now shamelessly dump the blame on a generation that inherited nothing but chaos and empty promises. If the nation is failing, the blame starts with those who have held power the longest. Elders: enough with the excuses and deflection! Imagine… If South Sudan had oil, fuel would be so cheap, inflation would disappear, and we would finally have the money to build our beloved nation into something as great as the UAE or Norway. If we had fish, cattle, and livestock, food would be so affordable that every school could feed our hungry children for free, with enough left to export and bring prosperity. If we had fertile lands, we would grow enough food to feed our people and build thriving agro-industries that lift every family out of poverty. If we had hydropower and sunshine, electricity would be so cheap and reliable that no mother would ever cry in darkness, and no hospital would watch patients suffer without power. And if we had gold and minerals, we could build modern roads, highways, airports, world-class hospitals, and schools where our children sit safely in class, learning science and skills that shape a bright future living in comfort, dignity, and hope. Just imagine… We already have all these rich resources beneath our feet and across our land. But I really want you to just imagine… Having good leaders with vision honest leaders free from corruption, who work tirelessly, put the interests of every citizen first, and who will never use tribalism to divide us, to hate us, or to kill each other in this beautiful South Sudan 🇸🇸.
