South Sudan electricity fight is horrifying and sad to watch. Three groups have locked horns. First group belongs to JEDCO/EZRA and they believe JEDCO is the right company to do the job. Second group is on the side of the recently Turkish company that has shown interest in investing in power sector in South Sudan. The last group is for those who believe transmission of power from Karuma to South Sudan is the best option and offers clear window of opportunities like powering industries and solve power shortage crisis. Uganda has already borrowed the $129m needed for transmission + an addition of £40m EU support to SSD. All the agreements with some of these entities include training South Sudanese engineers for a take over in the near by future. The biggest problem here is that cartels have to benefit first. Each group is carrying a spoon. J1 has a tough decision to make. It's either a country or cartels!!
