@iitmadras and @OffCMCVellore have joined forces to develop PLUTO, an indigenous, cost-effective, portable robot designed to transform hand rehabilitation. Licensed and commercialized by Thryv Rehab Solutions, PLUTO delivers precise therapeutic movements and real-time feedback, enabling better outcomes for patients with conditions like stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, and post-surgery recovery. With over 1,000 patients already benefitting, this modular device bridges the gap in accessibility, making therapy available at rehabilitation centres, clinics, hospitals, and even at home. Its compact design and plug-and-train mechanism ensures ease of use, while its affordability makes it a game-changer in healthcare. Developed by a team of researchers led by Prof. Sujatha Srinivasan, Head of TTK Center for Rehabilitation Research and Device Development at IIT Madras, Department of Bioengineering, CMC Vellore, and inventor Dr Aravind Nehrujee, PLUTO stands as a testament to innovation in assistive technologies.
