Scientists have created a flexible material that's a powerhouse: it 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 and even "𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀" 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁! By mixing a special 2D Perovskite crystal, GA₂PbI₄, with a flexible polymer (PVDF), they created an energy generator that's five times more efficient than the original material, producing ~60 volts.
The GA₂PbI₄ crystals help the polymer generate more electricity when it bends or moves. Interestingly, this device can also act as a self-powered light sensor, generating electricity without needing a battery. Such materials could soon power wearable electronics, environmental sensors, and wireless devices, using nothing more than everyday motion and light.
