In Bucharest teaching on intelligence governance. Worth remembering the UK does not have a long history of democratic oversight of intelligence, the Romanian parliament set up an intel oversight committee a year before the UK Intelligence & Security Committee was established.

The #Mandelson papers released today included just one which had been reviewed by the Intelligence and Security Committee. This is not going to be a quick process.

First batch of #Mandelson papers are out. Parliament can do what it wants with its committees but I am far from convinced this is a worthwhile use of the Intelligence and Security Committee.

Very significant clarification today from the ISC regarding handling of the Mandelson papers. After some discussion the government has agreed that the decision about whether material referred to the ISC should be published will be taken by the ISC alone.
