UPDATE! .@TheSisterKnight and I are nearing the end of our time in Denver. We’ve enjoyed connecting with our grandchildren and our son. But it's time to move on. In October 2023 we felt inspired to sell all that we had and begin a ministering trip to spend time with our children and grandchildren. We put our home up for sale, and were blessed to sell at asking despite a sagging market and agents who did not believe we could get that price.  Neither of us really had a relationship with our grandparents, nor did our children have one with our parents. We felt that by traveling to each of our kids and spending several months with them, we would at least develop the foundation of a relationship, getting to know our grandchildren, and they us. What’s ahead? Well, we have one more son in Louisiana, with our two youngest grandboys. We’ll start there, though it will likely only be a couple of weeks. He doesn’t really have room for us, so we will make good use of the cargo conversion camper we have been remodeling.  From there, most likely Springfield, MO. If you live nearby, or know anyone there, we’d love to make friends. I will also likely be looking for steady employment as this may be home for us for the foreseeable future. Its equal distance to four if our five kids, so it seems like a good place to land. X won’t change for us. We have a great group of faith-filled members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose testimonies we’ve come to appreciate. That’s all.

I am the luckiest man in the world. My wife is incredible. She knows I’m really trying to watch my calories and get plenty of protein, and I came home to this hot plate of food. It’s all fresh ingredients and was so good! She knows I’m trying to cut back on soda, so she got me some new sparkling waters so I can still have the fizz I love so much. She heard me mention that I wanted a blender more manageable than our giant Vitamix for my personal protein smoothies, so she got me one! When I thanked her for everything, she replied, “Thank you for working so hard for us.” She is so thoughtful! She is as busy as I am and she still takes the time to think of me. I love her so much!

5 months after bilateral calcaneal osteotomy, Achilles lengthening, and accessory navicular removal, my son ran the 3200 today. He wasn't happy with his time, but I'm just happy that he can run again at all.

As missionaries in Spain in 1995, we entered a 3-on-3 basketball league and made it to the semifinals while playing in our shirts/ties and name tags… We called ourselves “Los Moronis” Good times.

@JayDee909771543 @Lew541207 Love this! Thanks for sharing. Some of my favorite youth and YSAs are adaptive needs and I want so much to have some of the characteristics they are blessed with!

I grew up a little different than most people. 3 of my 4 siblings have special needs. My one sister passed away before she turned 1. My other sister is high functioning and can do somethings tho she will probably always live with my parents. This is my youngest brother. He is 28 years old. Non verbal, autistic and has something called microcephaly. He’s not potty trained, needs help eating, and needs 24 hour care. He can say basic words like mom and dad, water, hot dog, car, etc. but it’s a tender mercy attending church with him Sundays. When he hears a song like love one another, or silent night, or popcorn popping, he will sing along with it somehow. He will actually string words together the best he can with a smile on his face while he’s singing. It brings a tear to my eye when I hear it. I think often of Gods commandment to become like a child and I wonder how? How can I do that? Submissive, meek, full of humility and kindness. I can’t remember what it’s like to be a child! But then I see someone with special needs and the kindness and love they show, of their tenderness and innocence and love and I am reminded. Oh yes, that is how. People think being in a family with siblings with special needs is hard and a “trial” maybe there is some truth to that. But after growing up like this. I feel like it’s the opposite. I’m blessed beyond anything I can imagine to be around children of God who love the way He did and it reminds me to try and be a better person so I can be with them all in the next life.

@busy_bee_me We home schooled each of our 5 kids at one time or another during their schooling. We were blessed to have several others in the ward and stake that did as well so it provided some great synergy and socialization.

Our entire relief society presidency homeschools. 3/4 of our primary presidency. And 1/4 of our YW presidency. Several of the other women in the ward as well. I think we have more families at least partially homeschooling than purely public schooling. Home-centered seems to be 1/

My son at his Melchizedek Priesthood interview tonight was able to hold a golden shovel from the Fairview Temple groundbreaking ceremony 2 weeks ago for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 🤩 (That temple will be next door to our church building in Fairview, TX.)
