@AlexNevard I was just discussing this with one of my consultants and we were saying the exact same thing. Uncanny.

@AlexNevard If we apply The Nevard Effect to your hypothesis, then cath lab becomes a near certainty.

Hypothesis: One could post a picture of a normal ECG to #MedTwitter, and at least one person would ask for the patient to go to the cath lab

@LNER Hi Dan, I'm booked on 1747 Leeds to Kings X. Is this service on or disrupted? Would my ticket be valid on earlier or later services on same route today?

If frailty is now a syndrome, and levels of frailty are based upon functional status 2 weeks before am attendance. Should we be documenting "looks frail" in the notes?

@StuartNuttall1 Trick is to underperform in testing and have an artificially low VT1. Then hey presto suddenly you're a very durable rider. It's like smashing a session because you've got an out of date FTP. (Disclaimer- you will also be slow and never actually improve)

Interesting thread- all about having matches left for when they count!! 🔥 Learnt this the hard way when I first started group riding. Increasing power at VT1 seems key!!

⚡️ Are you strong where it matters? 🚴‍♂️ Durability emerges as a predictor of success in cycling races. Kind of makes you wonder why athletes keep testing performance in a rested state only. A thread on the emerging research on durability since 2020 -> 🧵

@SportDocBedford Dead stop lat pull downs and negative pull ups- everyone smashes the concentric groups so they can do one or two and forgets about eccentric conditioning which will get you to proper sets!

@AlexNevard You had your appendix out 6 years ago, have you started drinking again? When you say Japan, do you mean the pub?

Your 25yr old brother messages from Japan, he thinks he has appendicitis, due to data roaming charges you can only ask 2 questions to advise him if he probably does or not. What would you ask?

Nasty head injury today at #RLWC2021 for Cook Islands. However the excellent response of both medical teams meant that within 60 seconds of the head injury occurring, all equipment was onto the field & oxygen applied. Great team work and pitchside care 👏🏻 👏🏻

@DrNickRaynor Full credit to all involved. Last shows the reason we rehearse- Emergency Action Plan in place, had been simulated and then was applied perfectly when it mattered most. Thanks for you help Nick and to @NZRL_Kiwis medical team too.

@DrJimboWalton @andrew_durham Exactly this. Current EM ST5. If you gain the correct skills, experience and qualifications via extra curricular SEM then alongside EM CCT you can do most things. Think SEM MSc, logbook of SEM activity, supervised SEM work and governing body approved courses.

@andrew_durham You can definitely work in both at a high level. But very difficult to CCT in both. Most trodden path is to do EM training and build up SEM portfolio. In theory you could CESR in SEM but difficult..

Just had a look at the GMC dual accreditation. Apparently you cannot have dual accreditation in SEM and Emergency Medicine. Yet I see a lot of consultants who do both. My question this evening is how is it done?

@dan_brooke I was discussing this earlier too- wonder if it's due public perception that all available medical staff should assist with an emergency. Pitchside teams highly visible and potentially terrible press for the club if they do nothing and adverse outcome?

@markgregory1410 @ShaunLintern @RCoAPresident Ok I’ll go along with your new haven of a surplus of porters. Where are they going to take people when the theatres don’t exist? All I see happening here is porters taking patients on laps of the hospital.

@DrNickRaynor Agree with your conclusions, early days and we will see if it is for keeps. However it certainly effects my threshold to enter the field of play for lower risk/concern injuries and on-field physio support. High risk/concern unaffected.

Got our 1st green card last night for stopping the game to assess a potentially serious knee injury. Referee applied the rules correctly as medical staff asked for a stoppage, but when applied in this circumstance it still doesn’t sit right. Here’s why🧵

@jim_crawfurd Keep it safe. If you think it isn't, talk to NIC and decide what needs doing and what isn't working. If it's still not safe, call your consultant. And brings sweets to every nightshift (Skittles)
