Something I know (but still underestimate): Your environment shapes your entire reality. The people you surround yourself with determine your outcomes. Surround yourself with people who are constantly talking about the past, you'll be stuck in it. Surround yourself with people thinking big about the future, you'll build a bright one. Spend time with people who encourage you to think bigger. Who believe you’re capable of more. A person is either holding you back or pushing you forward. There is no in between.

I’m entirely convinced that the key to life and happiness is having low expectations for things outside your control and high expectations for things within it.

Wow… who would’ve thought. A young girl from Detroit, now being inducted into the Hall of Fame at one of the top private schools in Michigan. What a full circle, God-led moment! I’m beyond grateful, not just for the opportunity to attend DCDS, but for the tools, discipline, and mindset it gave me that have carried me far beyond the game of basketball. God is so good. Always.

@amber__deane One of the best imo for younger levels. Lots of conceptual reads.

🚨Transability of ACTIONS 🚨 This time of year there is an abundance of offensive brilliance on display in the tourney. Many coaches have bookmarked and saved future sets they will be wanting run. 👇🏼 Translatability is much easier than the average coach realizes, IF the order of operations is: 1. Space - space is the prerequisite for shot quality, which is the most important metric in basketball. 2. Advantage - all actions/flow are designed to create an advantage, if you already have an advantage use it. 3. Coverage solution - how does the defense guard PnR/off ball screens and how to do they help (pack/load to the ball/ up the line). With this foundation in mind, translatability is simply understanding GRAVITY, ATHLETICIS and the FLOOR/CEILING of each action or trigger. For example, If it’s 13u, the average gravity won’t be 25 feet on shooters and they typically won’t be playing above the rim. Teams will be switching and putting 2 on the ball more because mistakes won’t be punished like more gravity and more athleticism. This makes it easier to decipher what actions will work and which ones won’t. 3 man actions like Spain, 77, and zoom are much less effective at amateur levels. Flex/princeton concepts like screen the screen and blind pig are KILLERS. Why? The ceiling of the play is determined by the gravity and athleticism. One can guard 2 effectively against 3 man actions without athleticism and shooting from the offense.

Why didn't Isaiah Evans transfer from Duke after last season after averaging only 6.8 ppg while only playing 13.7 mpg? It's a mindset he was taught from his mother Marieke Lémon back in 9th grade. Here's a look into what Evans was taught about adversity & accountability. @WRAL
