The photopheresis would be twice a week to start. It’s “a treatment where they take your blood, separate the red and white blood cells, put the red cells back in, expose the white cells to UV rays, then put the treated white blood cells back in.”❗️ #lungtransplant #CLAD

Just had the saddest conversation with my lung transplant doctor. He doesn’t think there’s any way to get back my lung function. I’m now down to 18%. (I was 85% in April!) He thinks it’s CLAD: Chronic rejection. He’s going to try a few things to stabilize what I have left.

My new lungs are gasping for breath like my old ones before transplant. The tragedy of #transplant is you can do everything “right” (take your meds, exercise, mask, don’t drink) and still wind up with rejection or infection. Sometimes your best efforts are not enough. 💔

How do I stop crying? The vet says my beloved dog has lung cancer that’s untreatable. She gave her 2 weeks to live and gave me the name of a vet who will come to your home to put your best friend to sleep. My dog is my main joy & constant companion. I thought we had more time. 💔

@dizzycatdesign I’m so sorry. I’m spending very little time on X these days but I’m always sending you the biggest hugs.

My new lungs are doing great, but I’m struggling every day with stomach pain, nausea and malnutrition as a result of the transplant leaving me with gastroparesis.
