I’m really struggling to breathe today. No appetite. My #lungtransplant coordinator talked to me about end of life stuff. It sounds like my suffering will increase until they finally sedate me to get through the final days. How close am I to that? They can’t predict.

My 8th photopheresis treatment to try to delay death. My body is rejecting my transplanted lungs. My lung function fell to 16%. In April it was still 85%. By June it dropped to 39%. 3 hospitalizations later, it dropped to 18%. Doctors say there’s little chance it will improve.

Just had the saddest conversation with my lung transplant doctor. He doesn’t think there’s any way to get back my lung function. I’m now down to 18%. (I was 85% in April!) He thinks it’s CLAD: Chronic rejection. He’s going to try a few things to stabilize what I have left.

I'm a deacon. Yes, we don't give random strangers money, and we will still consider helping you but we need to know your situation and why you came straight to us and not a food bank or organizations that exist for that very reason. Churches are not awashed with money and the funds we do have for mercy needs are for members of the church. Also the lady who was doing this was called out in the comments for lying, which is incredible people take her video and run with the idea that churches are just selfish and greedy.

There's a lady on tiktok calling churches saying she needs help buying formula for her baby just to see if they will actually help their communities. She's called 20+ places and so far only a mosque and a tiny little church in Appalachia have offered to help.

@CrisAZelaya One point you validate is that all the people claiming SNAP shouldn’t exist because “churches can help” aren’t factoring in that no, all churches can’t or won’t help based on their own circumstances and criteria. SNAP turns no one away if they meet the income, residency criteria.

@CrisAZelaya When people talk about SNAP benefits the conservatives all claim their tax dollars aren’t supposed to cover this and churches will But now when someone asks churches to cover it, suddenly the goalposts shift and you have to be a church member with a history of tithing 🙄

A 50-year mortgage is just a rental agreement… except YOU have to pay the insurance and property taxes and maintenance, and maintain the yard and pay the HOA fees… We need a house price correction, and the investor class, many of whom are boomers with multiple properties, just won’t let us have it.

What about homeless ppl who can't cook + store fresh food, very poor ppl without stoves and fridges, ppl without teeth, autistic ppl + ppl with disabilities, ppl with allergies, ppl who work 2-3 jobs and don't have time to cook, ppl who can't afford for food to expire?

I remember him saying Doge was going to overhaul the “technology” - this is frightening. The “gold leaf” and faux marble shiny exterior with shoddy interior are now coming to the control tower near you. But we have been conditioned to accept mass death and disability, violent kidnappings and food scarcity. People won’t react to more plane crashes (barely batted an eye when there were so many in the early days of Trump regime )
