This horse has been in my tracker since the end of last season, when catching the eye at Pontefract, rated 59, and off 1lb lower here it’s good to see he was given an easy time on seasonal debut at Thirsk last time out. That 7f trip would have been on the short side for this horse, who almost certainly would have needed the run, and he was given no more than hands and heels treatment by Duran Fentiman who rides again today. He’s still 2lb higher than his last winning mark, so may be here to lose, but it’s not the deepest of races and he’ll be towards the front of the pack from stall 4. TEES GEORGE caught the eye in an apprentice race at Doncaster last time out, staying on from well off the pace and would have certainly gone close with a more polished ride. Today he’s ridden by the trainers son, Jack, who has a decent strike rate for a 5lb claim and the horse, who is a C&D winner, is weighted to go well. His win over C&D, by 5 lengths, came off a mark of 56 so rated just 3lb higher here (not allowing for the 5lb claim) is certainly one he can win off. The fact that he is seemingly coming here in good form too is a big positive. #boom it’s a god awful ride but a very easy win 2.40 Haydock RISKINTHEGROUND 4/1 1pt win With Cheltenham abandoned, Haydock have taken their card and given that the two courses couldn't be more different, comparing past races to this one today may not be the most reliable. However, RISKINTHEGROUND won this race last year and is arguably more suited to the demands of this quick flat track than he would have been that day at Cheltenham, with the majority of his wins and places coming on flatter tracks. Since winning first time out, he has been absolutely garbage all season, beaten miles every time he's raced. However, 5 of those 6 races came in Grade 2 and 3 races, which he has no business being in, and the other saw him sent off at 100/1. Given that Dan Skelton is the best target trainer around, it's more than likely that he's been working back from this day all season and the horse lines up here rated 1lb lower than for his win in this race last year. Quick ground is perfect and he can be ridden any way

That's possibly to do with the 'dip' where many horses become unbalanced and those toward the front who have handled it, can steal a couple of lengths. Now, front running and Jamie Spencer aren't two things that tend to go hand in hand, but he is, in my opinion, the best front running jockey around - when he does it. In JAKAJARO we have a horse that has been ridden multiple ways in the past, but is predominantly a front runner and is drawn perfectly in stall 1 given that (usually) the stalls are positioned on the far rail for this day. New to the yard last year, he didn't record a win but had many big runs in defeat in vastly superior races than this. However, his last win did come after a layoff and, given the yard have a strong record in this race, he will hopefully be straight enough in terms of fitness here. Of the two Fitri Hay horses spencer, who presumably had the choice, has opted to ride this lad for a bang in form Cowell yard.
