@pamsson Yep. This to me screams lefty reliever to supplement Hill for the post season. They still have their major chips for Peralta or another starter. Its a nifty move if a) he’s not the rotation upgrade and b) they can somehow keep him healthy.

Like I said, I trust the Yankees when it comes to pitching. They have a rationale for the move. It just feels like they brought in another guy in the Gil-Warren group and that feels lateral to me. Maybe there is another move coming. Maybe they do think he’s a reliever.

@pamsson 100 percent agree. It gives them the likely best available CF option for next year and flexibility long and short term. Just can't stop them from improving the rest of the roster for 26', which is what most fans are assuming will happen.

I think a lot of the fan reaction to the Grisham news is heavily influenced by a concern the Yankees are going to have a payroll below $300 million even though it’s going to be very tough for them to do that and have a contending roster. They have a lot of big deals on the books.

This is a genuine question, and I’ve defended Volpe in the past. What baseball reasons do the Yankees have to defend Volpe this much? Jasson is a WAY better player than Volpe and doesn’t get this treatment and protection. Volpe is above reproach, and I don’t understand why.
