@KG_Jura Kyle of Localsh to Kyleakin was 1995 after the bridge, but that's an outlier. There was a ferry from Mallaig that took in various places in Skye plus Glenelg, Kyle and Applecross. That finished in the 70s with just Mallaig-Armadale left.

@Dr_W_E_Bulmer By the time you’ve converted a normal shed to have decent lighting, wired up, insulated and fully water tight, plus fitted out the inside to feel like a room (time and materials etc), those ready made ones will look much better value!

I am thinking of getting a 'garden office' so I can work from home more effectively without getting in the way. Even a small one is several grand. Or I could get a shed for a fraction of that cost. Is the difference, in terms of sturdiness, insulation, damp-resistance, worth it?

@wodieskodie Our local couriers in Skye are pretty good and deliver for everyone else. The problem is Evri have been trying to screw them over so no one will deliver for them. It’s entirely down to Evri’s greed and incompetence

After eleven years, it's time to update my London Underground concentric-circles-and-spokes map. Completely redrawn from centre to edges, it's so much better than before, and more geographically accurate than the official map.

@jamiemchale All Scottish railways (ScotRail and Caledonian Sleeper) are publicly owned. LNER is public too, typo in my last reply, sorry. Only Avanti is private, but they operate primarily in England. So very minimal addition to our ownership.

@andy_williamson So our railways are still partially private? The English network still works with the Scottish network, and Scottish people have partial ownership of it via the UK right?

I don't understand this post. 'Our' railways are already publicly owned, has this man chosen to represent someone else already?

@jamiemchale Much of the English network is privately owned some of it (e.g. LNER) is public as is all of Wales, Scotland & NI. Infrastructure is all public
