My old granite house in #Deeside has holes, plugs, nails & metal in the stonework... I've no idea why but it's shelter & nest space for aerial nesting solitary #bees like this red mason bee (Osmia bicornis) male - relatively new to NE Scotland but recorded here last year too.

Raising the alarm: Rannoch Brindled Beauty moths are out in Perthshire! This one looks fresh from the pupa and may be drying his new wings, we don't usually get to see them like this so it was a nice treat.

Spooky season is upon us! Beautiful Canary-shouldered thorn moth in the trap, with Tawny Owl calling from the field next door and stags roaring on the hills.
