@anthshiesty @CShredwards @Jessemedscience Those two teams actually have other competent top 6 pieces unlike this sham that Sweeney is running
English

Friendly reminder that Don Sweeney and Cam Neely have spent the last decade stuffing the ‘blue-collar’ blueprint down your throat — built around reclamation projects, bombed drafts, and the inability to develop their own prospects
All while blowing right through the careers of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, David Krejci, Tuukka Rask, and Zdeno Chara…
If they’re not careful, Pastrnak, Swayman, and McAvoy are next.

@BruinsWyan2 @CShredwards @Jessemedscience “Without McDavid the oilers would be a lottery team” “without MacKinnon the Avs would be a lottery team” yea that’s usually what happens when you remove the best player on the team
English

@Sweeneysucks @beingahermit @Jessemedscience Real fans don’t dedicate their life to hating on a man they blame for shit he can’t control
English

@anthshiesty @beingahermit @Jessemedscience Real fans don’t care about meaningless regular season wins
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience Elias does way more than just produce points. When he’s healthy he’s a big part of the penalty kill, he knows where to put the puck, and he wins faceoffs
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience Yea but giving a guy who needed others to perform who recently put out two years of declining performance a 7 year deal with a nmc was still not good the risk at the time was too high for it and I get it’s hindsight but look how it’s aged
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience A 7.75m 3C who we can’t trade is horrible even with a rising cap you can’t argue that come on
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience I think Sweeney saw what Elias was able to do with Johnny and Matthew and thought if he could put pasta with him it would have the same results. Obviously, that has not worked but he’s still a very useful player for us
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience I understand we needed a 1C and bad but Elias wasn’t even a 1C at the time we signed him it was a panic move
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience He got term and a NMC because he was without a doubt the best Centre on the market at the time. The contract will only get better with time due to the cap rising. Hes still very useful on this team, even as a 3c
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience lol I think getting called a casual after watching nearly every single game for a decade+ would offend anyone a bit sorry I misunderstood and it really wasn’t the right move imo he panicked and gave him term and a nmc it completely trapped us and put us in the spot we are in now
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience Wasn’t even calling you a casual but you taking offense to it tells me all I need to know. He’s overpaid no doubt about it but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t the right move at the time
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience No it wasn’t he was clearly declining and not worth the money then and has only gotten worse I guarantee I’ve been watching hockey longer than you have and I watch more of it lol, there isn’t a single metric that supports your argument, he’s wildly overpaid and overplayed
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience That contract is only bad in hindsight. It was the correct move at the time and he’s way more useful than casuals think.
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience U can’t be serious😭 guy signed Elias Lindholm as the replacement
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience Our 1c and 2c retire and you say Sweeney ruined the team? lol? Are you being fr?
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience I’m not really blaming Don for 2019 I’m just saying he did have khulman out there. I’m more mad at him for ruining the team after 23
English

@DMCstan_ @Jessemedscience Yeah I don’t wanna hear anything about roster construction when you get to game 7 of the cup final AFTER BEATING THEM 5-1 IN THEIR OWN BARN A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience The other options were basically the exact same thing
English

@beingahermit @Sweeneysucks @Jessemedscience Bruins have without question the worst fanbase with absurd overreactions. We won 65 games? Let’s blame the gm not the player who grew a reputation as notorious chokers when we don’t play Toronto
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience 2023 was on the players entirely but Sweeney was tossing Karson khulman in our top 6 during the Stanley cup finals
English

@anthshiesty @CShredwards @Jessemedscience No it’s because he inherited a 100+ point superstar that was good enough to carry his shitty roster those years. Without Pasta this team would’ve been in the lottery the last 3 years
English

@CShredwards @Jessemedscience I’ve counted two 100+ point seasons since Bergeron and Krejci retired. Doesn’t work every year it happens but it’s not everyday your 1c and 2c retire and you still make the playoffs. That was due to Sweeneys roster construction
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience And since that core has retired he's failed to put a good team on the ice. Priotizing Debrusk and Forbort over Hall was terrible
English

@CShredwards @Jessemedscience Yes that’s usually how it works GMs inherit old cores. The depth was built by Sweeney let’s not act obtuse here
English

@anthshiesty @Jessemedscience You just dis-proved you're on point. Only two big players were drafted by Sweeny? Yikes. So he inherited all of his best players from Chiarelli. The guy can't draft and the body of work shows he can't
English

@Jessemedscience But those two seasons alone invalidate your points entirely. Two big players during the 2019 near cup run were drafted by Sweeney. If you get to game 7 of a cup final win or lose, the last thing you should be attacking is the roster construction. He’s given us competent rosters.
English

Just as he would of been forever praised if they had won…they lost, criticism is fair game
Whether they had lost 4-0 in a sweep, or lost in double OT, with a puck going off the ref it’s still a loss
That said, I understand your argument and you’re not the only one that feels this way and I will be the first to say there is some validity to it
However, the reality is, you’re measured on win/losses and not “but I almost…” or “I could of…”
