You could not be more wrong.
Podkolzin is 62nd in NHL among forwards with 32 5x5 points. His 16 5x5 goals are tied for 41st.
He's earned his minutes because he can produce and is solid defensively.
With him on ice at 5x5 Oilers are +16. When he's off they are -31.

@JasonGregor Despite getting cherry minutes Podz has 33 points in 74 games. Ideal world he's third line. They need kids to knock some of Henrique, Jones, Fredrick, Lazar, off the roster and they need more EV scoring. They also need more speed. Have you watched Colorado lately?

Mackinnon can’t take nights off if he wants to win the Rocket and Hart. Caufield is right on his ass with goals and McDavid is hard carrying the Oilers. Kucherov is a Russian winger, so he’s exempt.

@avsflag @Avsfanjake The problem is MacKinnon was on fire the first half of the year and the Avs were on fire. Mackinnon has been mid the second half of the year and the Avs have been mid. They aren't winning the cup if he doesn't play at the top of his game.

Minor pet peeve. nhl.com includes shootout goals on the standings page for goal differential, despite those GF/GA not counting in actual stats.
COL is actually +88 and ANA is -14.
