@pearlosnhlpow edm had six 20 goals scorers, tied for second most in NHL. They were tied for most 18 goals scorers with eight. Claiming it is weak makes little sense. Offence isn't an issue in EDM.

@JasonGregor If a coach looks at that forward group and doesn’t mention how weak the depth is I don’t think the Oilers should be hiring him.

"There are different ways to improve. You can bring in new players, or you can bring back the majority of players and have them play a different way. Take the players you have an utilize their talents in the best way. Now our attention turns to speaking to a number of coaches and understand their philosophies and see what they would envision with our team, and the type of players they think could play their system best. And do we have those players or can we acquire them. We won't be changing out a significant part of our roster," Bowman on how EDM can improve.

@ConAirNcCagevid and I warned everyone that if you move Skinner it has to be an upgrade. They didn't. They grossly overpaid for Jarry. When Blackwood got traded Skinner was playing great. Look it up, so again, your example makes very little sense.

"This was a tough decision. We felt he had earned his contract extension based on his first two seasons. After this year, I said we would do an extensive review and when you take the season as a whole, we were just never able to get going...When we performed our analysis we just found we needed a different voice to get where we needed to go," Bowman on Knoblauch firing.

@JasonGregor Jason, I admire you more than anybody but the way this was handled was very poor. The handling of many issues has not been done well by once was a supremely viewed upon organization. Defend them all you want but this regime is becoming embarrassing and concerning…

"I think we (management) are part to blame for where we are at today. When a team doesn't have success it isn't just the players, or just the coach or just the management. It usually is all parts and that is the case here. There is blame on many, including myself," Bowman on where Oilers are at.

"We certainly will talk to them. They don't want to be choosing coaches. That isn't their role. They are different than normal players in that they are elite player, and they know the team, but they aren't choosing coaches and they don't have access to how a coach deals with management. They won't be in on the interviews or anything. It is more about their game, but they won't be involved in hiring a new coach," Bowman when asked if McDavid and Draisaitl will be involved in hiring a new coach.

"I don't think it was an issue. I've always operated that the coach has to coach how he believes. He has to win the game that night. It gets hard when you try to mandate a coach has to play certain players and play them specific minutes, because if it doesn't work then you can't hold him accountable," Bowman on if he and Knoblauch disagreed on player usage.

Kapanen was claimed on waivers. It cost EDM nothing. And his new deal was $1.3m. It was a great pick up. They paid nothing to get him. You are comparing him (gave up nothing) to Jarry where they gave up Skinner, Kulak and a 2nd and Jarry has $5.35m salary. You can't possibly think they are similar.
