Public anger against Modi is real and was visible since early 2024 everywhere. But the ecosystem narrative shift also looks like succession planning. Feels like RSS preparing Yogi. Modi may end up like Advani, maybe next Indian President. Advice to anti-Sangh folks like me: along with Modi start exposing Yogi more n more as well. If Modi was a disaster for India, Yogi could be a catastrophe for India.

What is holding West Bengal back? While the rest of India has enjoyed real growth in consumption levels over the last decade, WB has experienced near stagnation, specially in urban areas. In fact, the top 20% of urban WB population has seen a decline in their real consumption (CAGR of -0.4%!) during this time period. Hope to learn more on this from fellow economists, especially from Bengal.
