@ky__zo pls don’t complain about sf bathrooms, we have running water, usually potable too!

We raised $15m to build the ASICs-first inference cloud.
We're betting big on alternatives to GPUs, and the result is that we are already 5-8x faster on most models.

@fchollet Yes, and to think about it even more, i rewatched the proximo-maximus scene from gladiator. Twice.

Wrong. Being allowed to fail as spectacularly is an achievement that engineers should be proud of. The failure itself is a success that should be celebrated

Colleagues at SpaceX are about to become millionaires while Blue Origin just lost their only pad and likely a lot of contracts. Morale is at an all time low.

‘per aspera ad astra’ played out in real time last night. the aspera was a fireball on a launchpad, the astra is still the goal.

All personnel are accounted for and safe. It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it. Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.
English

@Alaska0420 @blueorigin Perhaps, but going through things like this with is exactly what made Elon who he is. In his own words - failure is irrelevant until it’s catastrophic.
English

@dflieb @ycombinator So why encourage them to give away 2M USD worth of equity for tokens, if the bottleneck is figuring out what exactly to build?

@GovNuclear Cherenkov radiation is so beautiful! Looks like the arc reactor!

@ryanndngg Using fake @TechCrunch , @YahooFinance , and @verge articles with real journalists’ names is fabricating press coverage and a bad look.

It’s only delusional until you’re standing in the exact future you once visualized.
8 months ago, I decided to become a founder. No credentials. No connections. No safety net.
Just one question echoing in my mind:
Why not be insanely delusional and optimistic?
I’ve learned that life starts bending in your favor the moment you decide everything you want is already yours. You’re simply on your way to collect it.
Success comes last. Belief comes first. Always.
Every single day that passes, you’re not just getting older.
You’re getting closer.
To nothing.
To something.
Or to everything.
So become obsessed.
Obsessed with the truth that your potential is endless and your ability to grow is infinite.
You can become anything you want.
The only real question is:
Are you willing to believe it before you see it?

@johnhcook @geekwire Saw it once sailing around Mallorca. It usually travels with The Wingman, a support vessel half the size that houses the crew and stores toys such as jet skis, smaller boats, and a helicopter. At the time they’d just travelled from Panama to Spain

What’s even more interesting is that the world hasn’t collapsed. You’d think it had to, given the tools stolen, yet it hasn’t. Some geopolitical shadow forces keep holding it together.

Periodic reminder: the Shadow Brokers, masterful curators of one of the most devastating technical intelligence leaks ever, will turn ten years in August — and we still don't know who they were.

@eliana_jordan @ycombinator Please build it and let me know when you’re testing the product, would love to be an early user. This is a wonderful idea!

applied to @ycombinator with Be Underwater
meanwhile yc applications:
“ex-google engineer building another ai wrapper”
me:
scuba instructor who learned to code
to build the airbnb for scuba diving
yc changed the game for airbnb…
maybe it can change mine too

We made an interactive client-server viewer for LagerNVS with @JonathonLuiten!
You can now interactively explore scenes from just a photo capture - no optimization, no 3D Gaussians, just load your images, run the model on a cloud GPU and stream the renders to your local browser.
Check out the video below for some spaces I recently captured in Oxford, London and beyond!

@_Shark_byte I think for most startups the cost of finding a vulnerability is in low double digits dollars now. Claude Code running on Kali Linux, with the right harness/skills around it, turns out to be a very good pentester!
English

its scarily easy to do this for many YC companies
of the 5 or so I was able to get the full DBs for last summer, it only took me 5-10min once you know what to look for
none of the startups had a security contact, which meant reaching out to the founders and praying
many were soc2 certified, closing big deals etc
i will say, of those who responded, they were very thankful and fixed it asap
(i never did get or ask for a bounty tho)
@ycombinator I've reached out to yall before, but do consider at least having a contact email for situations like this
varepsilon@var_epsilon
someone here is about to get their shit rocked 😹
English

@andrewdboersma @var_epsilon Separate issues - one’s disclosure, the other’s security. Both can be true.
English

@bartekstru @var_epsilon I mean, more irresponsible to be a VC backed finance startup and have everything exposed.
