@xgreg315x @pauliescibilia It's because certain whale donors were ONLY Ponying-up NIL for GMAC (under Boeheim's direction)... They were holding out NIL for other candidates... so, yes, the old man forced in another legacy hire...

@pauliescibilia If thats the NIL projection...was Hodgson ever the 1st choice or was it always Gerry? Because its sounds like SU will have the same or more NIL than Providence. Makes sense that he "turned it down" but was never offered. Maybe he "turned it down" because he wasnt top pick.

A promise of upper 1/3 NIL in ACC part of GMac deal according to ESPN. That’s a huge commitment to be top 6 in the ACC

@Vivekforprez @jimrome @GoodmanHoops Not true. Anyone that knows anything about college basketball knows there are better coaching candidates than GMAC available. Nothing against GMAC and he's done great in the MAAC, but there are bigger fish in the pond.

@jimrome @GoodmanHoops If Syracuse doesn’t do everything possible to get Gerry, the dome will be empty. The entire city wants Gmac. There’s not a coach in the country that Syracuse would rather have. He represents the city of Syracuse in every way.

@DrakeFantasy no doubt, but Hodg's buyout is not astronomical (2 mil). Plus, whose at fault for giving Autry, a legacy assistant with ZERO HC experience, a 5-year deal? There is a presser from the new AD tomorrow. I am guessing they will say they passed on Hodg.

@bartidge No doubt, but remember, Cuse is cheap. They don’t want to pay big $ for a coach while also paying Red’s buyout.

Syracuse basketball fans are despondent over losing a coach (Bryan Hodgson) they'd known about for a month. They desperately wanted a man who has been a head coach for all of three seasons, while scoffing at the idea of Gerry McNamara, who's been a head coach for two. This is the life of a fan on social media. There are plenty of great coaches out there. Just because you didn't get the message board darling doesn't mean you can't find someone really good for the job.

@00jcf00 @ryannemcek The outgoing Cuse Chancellor Sevyrud's chief of staff is a good friend with Lyke from law school... she's championed her at Cuse and with the chancellor... that's how.

@ryannemcek That’s fascinating How? No Syracuse connections? Just another AD in the same conference and Kent was like yah come on board as alleged heir to Wildhack?

I don’t know if it’s been reported on or if I’ve missed it But I’m very curious as to how Heather Lyke ended up at Syracuse after being fired by Pitt. Who is her champion on the hill? Is it the Chancellor himself?

@thadbrown7 "Faking injuries is something teams do do?" Yeah, like Tennessee when Cuse played them? Like Pitt vs. W. Virginia?? Your take MISSES completely on this one fact: Teams all over the country are doing this, week in, week out, and ONLY Syracuse has been fined for it.

I've liked a lot of what Fran Brown has done at #Syracuse. Faking injuries is not one of those things. And the program deserved to get fined for it.

@chapelfowler Bro, what a terrrible comment. Your counterpart on Cuse, Angeli, actually was injured, tore his achillies, and is now out for the friggin' year... then their back-up came in, waltzed down the field and punched the tigers in mouth for another 7... got what you deserved, crybaby.

Whoa. Talking about how Clemson played well in a tempo offense today, Clemson QB Cade Klubnik brings up — unprompted — that he felt like Syracuse seemed to have a guy getting injured after Clemson made a big play. “It’s up to them if they wanna be honest about that”

@CoachRNaclerio @Borat_CPA So Syracuse should just go independent with their top 25 football program and join the Big East again?? That sounds like a REALLY bad idea.

@Borat_CPA I really don’t know their team and who they are bringing in and who is graduating or going to put their name in the portal. Basketball wise Syracuse is a great fit in the Big East. I hope Coach Autry wins big

@TheDLTimes @NaitsabesMue This timeline encapsulates the sad benchmarks of this wayward project and the foolishness with how it's been managed from the top. And to cap it off, you abandon your current plan and development work (yet again) to copy and fork a platform created in 2022 by ex-meta employees.

The #IOTA secret is out, x.com/iota/status/18…, and I've seen the reactions unfold. They reminded me of what I felt several months ago when I first learned of this decision—frustration, doubt, and questioning how another pivot would affect our work. These are complicated feelings, especially when so much effort and time have been poured into a vision. Hans described it perfectly in x.com/hus_qy/status/…. I've had time to reflect, and while the decision wasn't easy to accept, I've come to see it as inevitable for the survival of IOTA as it stands today. There's a unique satisfaction in contributing to an original solution—building, iterating, and proving your ideas. It's addictive and requires a certain stubbornness to push through the challenges. But stubbornness alone isn't always enough. At some point, you must ask: how long you keep going, and when is it time to stop? From a broader perspective, innovations follow waves—think about steam engines, cars, or computers. These breakthroughs open new fields of application, developing quickly through iterative improvement and, yes, copying. In #DLTs, we're seeing a similar dynamic. New L1s emerge constantly, and #IOTA has slipped from the top 10 to the top 100 and then beyond. Without exceptional performance, it's hard to be noticed—let alone taken seriously. This shows the incredible performance of the IOTA team in getting the recent projects off the ground. They need a highly performant DLT to work on, either now or never. From this point of view, the IOTA step seems logical, as it forks one of the most performant DLTs out there with many features similar to some of the original IOTA ideas. Continuing to build from scratch would require far more time and resources than the ecosystem can afford, especially given the pace of innovation in this space. This is not a case of watermills versus steam engines—where one technology fundamentally replaces another—but a situation of incremental improvements. The advancements in SUI are iterative but significant enough to demand adaptation. Features like L1 SC, high-throughput transaction processing, low latency, and sponsored transactions have already been implemented in SUI. Still, I can't help but feel conflicted. Forking SUI feels pragmatic—perhaps even necessary—but it's not what we set out to do. It’s a reminder of the fine line between continuing to fight for your original vision and adapting to survive. Whether to abort or proceed with your initial aims and dreams is an ongoing question—not just for IOTA but for the broader goals of a decentralized economy. The temptations of centralization, influence, and money from Web2 are increasingly seeping into Web3. Perhaps we must embrace every possible kickstart or leapfrog to stay in the race. As Charles Darwin said: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."

People refusing to take into account we signed Isidor and then saying we haven’t signed a striker is so Sunderland, yes we need another but don’t try and say we did not sign a striker when even Isidor himself admitted he’s a striker #safc
