The child brought a gun from home and fired a single sh*t, which passed through Zwerner’s hand and lodged in her chest. Despite her severe injuries, she managed to escort her students to safety before collapsing. She later underwent multiple surgeries and survived. Following the incident, Zwerner filed a $40 million lawsuit against former assistant principal Ebony Parker, accusing her of ignoring repeated warnings that the student had a gun. Several staff members claimed they had raised concerns multiple times that day, but Parker allegedly failed to act.
