Official Statement on the Future of PinataBot and Telegram Monopoly We’re sad to announce that after a year and a half of hard work, we’re closing our PinataBot(@PinataBotOnSui) on Telegram. Recently, Telegram took steps that, in our view, go against the idea of free software and create a monopoly through their own blockchain — leaving no room for outside projects like ours. It’s especially disappointing because we used to admire Pavel Durov for standing up to the SEC and promoting freedom of speech in Russia, but that time appears to be over. We tried to break records — like hitting 2.5 million transactions in under 12 hours — and when we started, there were no Sui-based Telegramw with zkLogin. We won hackathons and believed we could build a strong ecosystem inside Telegram. But now we have to throw away the code and move on. To everyone who supported us: thank you. It truly hurts to walk away, but sometimes shit happens. We still believe in what we can build with the Move language (whether on Sui, Movement, or something else) and are now shifting our focus to AI projects, like ElizaOS (formerly AI16Z). Stay tuned for what’s next from Pinata. Today, censorship wins—but only today.
