@NoFilm_Analysis Elite receivers tend to get more opportunities/targets, which naturally increases the likelihood of drops. Maybe I'm crazy, but seems logical to me that you can't often both be good enough to command looks and never drop it.

Drops don’t actually matter in wide receiver evaluation. It has essentially 0 correlation to NFL success. There isn’t a single elite receiver in the NFL that has a sub-5% drop rate in college. ———————————— Player (Career Drop Rate in College) Puka Nacua (8.5%) Ja’Marr Chase (7.8%) Justin Jefferson (7.3%) Malik Nabers (7.3%) Garrett Wilson (7.1%) Zay Flowere (10.4%) Brian Thomas Jr. (9.3%) Jordan Addison (9.5%) DK Metcalf (9.5%) ———————————— Then you get to the actual translatability of the stat itself and it gets more muddy George Pickens had the best drop rate in college of any 1,000+ yard receiver of the last decade at 2.2%. He’s actually struggled with drops in the NFL with a 7% drop rate including a season with a 12% drop rate in 2024. CeeDee Lamb has 4 seasons with a drop rate >9% in the NFL after having 0 in college. Hasn’t kept him from being great. In fact, Amon-Ra had a higher drop rate in college than Lamb, but his drop rate in the NFL is 3% compared to Lamb’s 7.6%. If Concepcion struggles to translate to the NFL, it will have nothing to do with his high drop rate.

This is also the strongest argument for web-based distribution right now. No review queue. No 30% cut. No weeks waiting for approval. Your users get a URL, it just works. The irony: AI makes it trivially easy to generate apps, which floods gatekept platforms. But if your app runs in the browser, there's no gate to keep. The market itself becomes the filter — if it's good, people share the link. If it's slop, nobody cares. App stores were designed for a world where distribution was the hard part. Now creation is easy and discovery is hard. That's a web problem, not an app store problem.

THE APPLE APP STORE IS DROWNING IN AI SLOP people are treating the App Store like a Medium blog spitting out apps one after another. All with zero users and $0 revenue. Apple reviews that used to take hours are now stretching into WEEKS and even months > more than 550k apps were submitted just last year, highest in a decade.

@Shauncore I think we're agreeing. However he gets there, yes it's going against consensus, and with that track record, reevaluation is warranted for sure.

@bigboardlab Well I think heavily going away from the consensus is intentionally being bold since you are doing it on purpose. I get the conviction argument but that was the core of my tweet, if you are often wrong, re-think your conviction

I respect avoiding herding and I think 1 & 2 are defendable but you've also got to be willing to look internally and see why you are so different than consensus and why you think your are a better scout/smarter than else.
