Every problem that we have in India is connected to the colonial legacy. The corrupt and dishonest politicians that bleed the people dry, the civil servants who are subservient to their political masters, the courts where common people rarely if ever get justice, the overpopulation, endemic poverty and backwardness—all of them are rooted in a mindset produced by British rule of India. Those institutions we inherited from the British are the reason why India will never make it because they’re meant to keep the common people poor, repressed and backward.
