1/ 🧵 Canada’s “free” health care system cost patients $15.9 BILLION in 2024. Not in taxes— In lost wages, pain, and time wasted on waitlists. Here’s how the system kills your wallet—and maybe you too. ⤵️

Today I was happy to join S&P Global for one their Executive Partner Informal Conversations (EPIC) Roundtables. I spoke to the numerous investment opportunities in our province across various sectors and I shared more about the importance of Alberta’s energy sector in achieving North American energy dominance and our province’s plan to double oil and gas production.

@Haloairrescue I obtained my private pilot's license March 1968. I qualified as a Saskatchewan spray pilot and my father was as well. My brother and his wife were also private pilots. We owned 3 private airstrips all within 20 miles of eatonia Saskatchewan. Why doesn't HALO FLY at night 😕?

🚨 BREAKING Statement on Ottawa backing off its unaffordable and unattainable 2035 net zero power grid target: After years of watching the Federal Government gaslight Canadians about the feasibility of achieving a net-zero power grid by 2030, we are gratified to see Ottawa finally admit that the Government of Alberta’s plan to achieve a carbon neutral power grid by 2050 is a more responsible, affordable and realistic target.   That said, the Federal Government’s finalized electricity regulations remain entirely unconstitutional as they seek to regulate in an area of exclusive provincial jurisdiction. They also require generators to meet unreasonable and unattainable federally mandated interim targets beginning in 2035 that will still make electricity unaffordable for Canadian families.   Alberta will therefore be preparing an immediate court challenge of these Electricity Regulations that we fully expect to win.   We would propose a quicker and cheaper alternative solution which involves the Federal Government completely abandoning any attempt to regulate or otherwise interfere with Alberta’s governance over our provincial power grid.

Great news, Alberta! We're delivering on our promise to get Albertans the care they deserve. Surgeries are up, and more are being done on time—proof that our investments in frontline healthcare are continuing to pay off.

Honoured to join the Blackfoot Confederacy Chiefs and leaders at Siksika Nation for our annual Protocol Agreement meeting. Our government is committed to true partnership, working together to advance economic independence, community health, and opportunities for Indigenous-owned businesses. Through the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation, 29 First Nations now hold ownership in major energy projects, creating jobs and revenue streams that support sustainable futures. We’ve tripled AIOC’s loan capacity, opening doors across energy, agriculture, tourism, and more. Reconciliation is a continuous journey, rooted in collaboration and respect. By listening, learning, and working side-by-side, we’re building a future where everyone in Alberta thrives. Thank you to the Blackfoot Confederacy for your leadership.

Every year on Nov. 11, Canadians pause to honour the immense sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have served our country in times of war, military conflict and peace. It is a solemn day of reflection, gratitude and remembrance.   The freedoms and rights we cherish so deeply as Albertans and Canadians have been safeguarded by the courageous actions of all who have worn, and continue to wear, the uniform. From the trenches of the World Wars to more recent peacekeeping missions and conflicts, Canada’s soldiers, sailors and aviators have answered the call to protect our values and way of life, often at great personal cost.   Today, we remember not just the military battles won, but also the long-lasting personal battles fought by those who returned home. We honour the veterans who carry these invisible wounds of service and we stand with the families who supported them through every challenge.   I encourage all Albertans to join me in a moment of silent reflection, to express our profound appreciation for our veterans' selfless dedication and to rededicate ourselves to the preservation of the rights and freedoms they fought to defend.    Lest we forget.

I have issued this statement, along with Minister of Municipal Affairs Ric McIver on the federal government’s appointment of a working group to support Jasper’s recovery: Our government has been steadfast in our support for Jasper’s recovery. The Jasper Re-Entry Cabinet Committee has been meeting on a weekly basis since August 22, 2024. Prior to that, the Emergency Management Cabinet Committee was meeting daily to respond to emerging issues related to the wildfire situation across the province, including the wildfire that devastated the Municipality of Jasper and Jasper National Park. The mandate of Alberta’s Jasper Re-Entry Cabinet Committee is to provide oversight and support in the transition from emergency response to long-term recovery. The committee provides direction to provincial representatives on the Jasper Recovery Task Force, which is working closely with the Municipality of Jasper and Parks Canada to determine the best solutions to promote recovery in the area. While the wildfire in Jasper originated within Jasper National Park, Alberta’s Jasper Re-Entry Cabinet Committee provided $7.5 million in emergency evacuation payments to support more than 6,500 evacuees from the town of Jasper, followed by a provincial Disaster Recovery Program with a budget of up to $149 million to support Jasper’s recovery. However, under the federal Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements (DFAA) program, only a portion of Alberta’s costs are eligible for reimbursement. Now that the federal government has also established a working group for Jasper’s recovery, we are calling on the federal government to waive the DFAA cost-share formula, given that this fire originated from the national park, which is under federal jurisdiction. We encourage quick decisions to ensure plans that fit Jasper’s unique circumstances are in place before the snow flies. Alberta's government has a plan for interim housing to support Jasper residents while they rebuild their homes and community. To support this plan we have asked the federal government to partner with Alberta in sharing the costs of this project that would provide much needed interim housing in Jasper through the DFAA. With winter fast approaching, we hope that they will support this important work to provide interim housing in Jasper. We’re glad to see that the federal government has now appointed a task force of ministers at the federal level. It is our hope that the task force will respond to these requests and work with us to continue supporting Jasper residents. Read more: alberta.ca/release.cfm?xI…
