Lab-grown chocolate is reportedly hitting shelves in 2027.
Mondelēz (the giants behind Oreo, Cadbury & Toblerone) is funding an Israeli biotech company to grow cocoa in bioreactors because, surprise, a lab is cheaper than paying African farmers.
They’re calling it “climate friendly.”
Meanwhile, Ghana & Côte d’Ivoire (70% of world cocoa) have farmers living in poverty, watching prices crash while their beans rot. These corps could’ve invested in the communities they’ve milked for decades… but no, time to swap the farm for a stainless steel tank full of “FAT.”
First they replaced cocoa butter with palm oil blends. Now they want to replace the bean itself.
Real food is getting too expensive for billion-dollar companies. How long before your chocolate bar is just lab sludge?

@xrpmickle EXACTLY. This is due to personal interests ONLY. In this case Coinbase. They have always looked at their own interests just as they did when they delisted XRP at the time of lawsuit instead of supporting Ripple, who, was fighting for the whole crypto industry.

It’s not a “bad” bill.
One company is unhappy with it because it implicates how THEY make money.
If we plan on waiting for a bill that makes everyone happy, we will never get a bill.

“Lab-grown chocolate is coming to shelves in 2027. Oreo, Cadbury & Toblerone are already funding the Israeli biotech producing it because a lab is cheaper than a farm.”
“Cadbury has been quietly replacing your chocolate — This dairy milk isn't legal chocolate in 27 countries, the cocoa butter was replaced with vegetable fat, a cheap blend of 6 industrial oils. What remains is diluted with polyglycerol — Soon even that gets replaced, you'll be eating cells grown in a pharmaceutical tank.”
Cadbury Dairy Milk (in the UK and many markets) has included vegetable fats (like palm and shea) alongside cocoa butter for years. UK/EU regulations allow up to 5% non-cocoa vegetable fats in chocolate if it meets minimum cocoa solids (20%) and other standards.
In America standards are much lower...
- For milk chocolate specifically: Only 10% chocolate liquor, 12% milk solids & 3.39% milk fat are required.
