@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett ok so the path to capitalism is:
stability
a sense of bonafide representation among the people
public abundance of resources instead of hoarding
and social trust/optimism
i think we agree on a lot of things
English

I don't think it's that complicated.
Communism is a raw power play. It only takes a small sociopathic 1% of the population willing to kill everyone who stands in their way to implement it.
Whether is succeeds or not depends on how much support the existing power structure has.
If the existing economic system is run by corrupt shitbags, When the Communists come they get more tacit support from the masses and fewer people willing to kill and die to protect the status quo.
It'll never work in America because we have too much social mobility. Everyone who is capable of prospering in their merits is successful enough under Capitalism that we are more than willing to kill and die to protect the status quo.
If the commies ever try to do a real Communist revolution in America that overwhelms the ability of the police to preserve law and order, they have signed their death warrants because every normie with a gun in this country will immediately kill them in the streets on sight.

The reason there’s trash in Havana is bc there’s an oil blockade and Cuba has to prioritize hospitals for fuel over trash collection.

some people see this and think central planning is a good idea.

@columtyrrell Why are Irish accents funny? This is colonial shit wrapped up in bollox. Same fucking nonsense as laughing at 33 and a third while Brits talk like they are gargling Charlie’s balls. No one laughs at them. It’s the most base of “humour”
English

I’ve not seen anyone ever attempt multiple types of Irish accents. This shit is good. I approve of this shit.

These still exist. You're just not invited to them, like how you wouldn't have been back then 😭

@Mezptmez @c0mmandderr everyone was off cocaine and absinthe putting CANNONS in their orchestral music and you don't think that was a good-ass time?

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett and just to explain why europe could transition into capitalism despite constant wars in the late-renaissance-early-modern period, the balance of great powers in europe was so carefully maintained that it prevented these upheavals, mostly to keep colonial projects going
English

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett in conclusion communism is a cope for nations that never stood a chance at reforming into capitalism, but it's not their fault at all. if anything it's our fault. check out the platt amendment and the US occupation of cuba if you want an example relevant to this discussion
English

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett alternatively, the western world was indisputably unipolar while both the major communist powers USSR and China were horribly devastated by WW2 by the nazis and japanese respectively. industrialised early capitalist europe was hardly a peaceful place
English

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett communism does not have a good track record but i can point out in a bunch of different ways how the transitional, under-developed and unstable state of russia at the time as a country was more to blame
English

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett there are more important factors like stalin being a shit commander in chief, them coming out of a revolution only 20 years earlier and ofc deciding to buddy up with the nazis and trusting the guys who won't stop saying 'kill all slavs' leading to barbarossa
English

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett russia definitely got the worst of it but the prime factor in their later economic outcomes was definitely having a benefactor in the USA. china was the closest thing the soviets had and in 1969 things got so bad they asked the white house if they could nuke them😐
English

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett Literally all of Europe had the same problem. The onky reason Russia had it worse is because their shitty Communist econony couldn't build good weapons and forced them to use meat wall tactics to beat Germany. Lend/lease from America was the only reason they survived at all.
English

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett The reason all the men died is because the Communists made shitty weapons and got their asses handed to them by the Germans. The only reason the Soviets "won" the war was because of meat wall tactics and the equipment they borrowed from America under Lend/Lease.
English

@RealSamPitts @LilPota2 @katewillett for perspective let's take the population pyramid and turn it back 60 years to 1960. that means the 70-80 year olds are the working population and
uh oh
UH OH

English

@bot_shape @LilPota2 @katewillett But Co.munism is the far better economic system that creates more wealth for less work! Communist theory proves this over and over again! How could people possibly be overworked in a Communist utopia?!
