@Kiradavis Saving companies leaves old, decrepit countries taking up space. The internet was fresh and new, there wasn't regulation, that's why it thrived and grew so much.

@MattWalshBlog 5 hours is very marginal in the best conditions. Leave home 3 hours before flight. Flight time 1 hour. Better to drive.

Flight delayed on tarmac. Missed our connection. Based on the other flights available, which were also delayed, and the fact that taking a flight tomorrow would require getting back into a security line stretching seemingly for miles, we decided to get a car and drive five hours to our destination. That’s how bad air travel is right now. Driving is faster. Air travel is awful in this country. People don’t realize just how much it sucks unless they have to do it a lot. It’s not just TSA. Flight delays. Air traffic control issues. Service is even worse than usual. Every airport is crowded and slow and worn down and dirty. Everyone brings their dogs. The term “service animal” doesn’t mean anything anymore. Air travel used to be luxurious. People used to wear suits. Working for an airline was prestigious. The employees took it seriously. It sucks now. It’s terrible. This is the kind of thing our leaders should be fixing. Because the most frustrating thing is that it is so eminently fixable. If only anyone bothered to try.

The word "communist" has lost all meaning in MAGA world. Let's fix that. What communism actually is: • State ownership of ALL means of production • Abolition of private property • No free markets • Single-party authoritarian rule What US Democrats actually support: • Capitalism with regulations • Private property rights • Free markets with safety nets • Multiple parties, free elections Communist parties in US Congress: 0 Socialist parties in US Congress: 0 Democratic Socialists (Bernie-style): ~5 out of 535 The Democratic Party would be center-right in most of Europe. Biden and Harris are capitalists. Always have been. But you call everything you don't like "communism" because: 1. You can't define it 2. You never learned political science 3. Fox/OAN/Newsmax told you scary words = Democrats 4. You're in a cult that requires an enemy "Do your own research" means YouTube videos. "Communist" means "thing I don't like." "Patriot" means "person in my cult." The states with the worst education rankings vote the most Republican. That's not a coincidence.

This is very important: You are not paid for your value. You are paid the same or less than your employer's next best alternative. In the case of a teacher or nurse, the next teacher or nurse in line will take the offer that you refuse. There are plenty of people ready and willing to be a nurse or a teacher. Choose a job that has less people able and willing to do it. Like, try electrical engineering or data scientist. Tip: pick a field where math is important because not enough people can do high-level math.

people say "women are not paid less, they just pick empathy careers." ok.!!! but who decided nursing and teaching are worth less? like we will pay a sales guy 150k to move numbers around, but pay a nurse pennies to literally keep people alive, or give a teacher crumbs and wonder why future generations are failing every test. it is not that empathy based work is less valuable it is that we’ve normalized underpaying it because it’s "women’s work."

@ThomasSowell Climate Change is real and not an emergency. It will never be prevented because no one will vote to make their life more expensive and less comfortable. We will end up paying to mitigate the effects. Bernie is an old communist.

In the richest country in the history of the world, why the hell do we allow billionaires to pay a lower tax rate than public school teachers? That's not an accident. That's a policy choice. Tax the rich.

Radical progressives often think this is the richest country in the history of the world. It’s not. It has rich people and corporations, but financially illiterate politicians have pushed the country to the brink of financial ruination. Progressives don’t even know who pays the taxes and that 50% pay no meaningful taxes at all.

Happened to walk through a "No Kings" protest yesterday. Very old, very white. Lots of silly signs that made no sense. No real message; generalized anti-Trump sentiment. It's basically just liberals upset that their party holds very little power for now. Mobilizing for midterms.

@realBigBrainAI If you are really smart then you figure out fast how to fake a lower intelligence, how to explain things simply, how to convince people the idea was theirs, and how to rig the system to get what you want.

Marc Andreessen says raw intelligence might be the worst qualification for leadership — and it changes everything about how we should think about AI. "If the leader is more than one standard deviation of IQ away from the followers, it's a real problem." Andreessen points to the US military, one of the earliest and most rigorous adopters of IQ testing, as the source of this insight. They slot people into specialties and leadership roles based on IQ scores. And over the years, they kept seeing the same pattern. A leader who is significantly less intelligent than their people struggles to model how those people think. That part is intuitive. But the reverse turns out to be equally true. "It's actually very hard for very smart people to model the internal thought processes of even moderately smart people." A leader who is two standard deviations above the norm of the organisation they're running also loses theory of mind, that ability to hold an accurate model of what's happening inside someone else's head. The gap is too wide in both directions. Andreessen then takes this to its logical conclusion: "If you had a person or a machine that had a thousand IQ or something like it, its understanding of reality would be so alien to the people or the things that it was managing that it wouldn't even be able to connect in any sort of realistic way." An AI that vastly outthinks every human in the room isn't positioned to lead those humans. It's positioned to be completely incomprehensible to them. Leadership has never really been an intelligence problem. It's a connection problem. And no amount of raw intelligence closes that gap — past a certain point, it only widens it. The world will not be run by the smartest thing in the room for a long time. Maybe ever.

US is sending 17,000 troops to the Iran. Iran: 610,000 in Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps + 350,000 reserve = 960,000, not including large auxiliary paramilitary forces. Lindsay Graham says this is our Iwo Jima. US Iwo Jima losses: 6,821 U.S. dead + 19,000 wounded. Why again?
