@dwatsonhayes Tonga population 105k. australian Tongas who recognise Tonga as home land 35000 and NZ 61000. Samoa & all polynesian Islands show same movement. Because of work opportunities Polynesians are not retiring to homelands but do continure family assistance which is their great culture

@broughto8 What is even more important is that domestic competitions, including junior league, pathways, school comps become a staple in each Pacific nation. Only way to grow the sport and produce home grown talent from the Pasifika region.

@dwatsonhayes David we will continue to address"Development of Sport through Game".All fans appreciate the 610 NRL players that will perform in 2023 for NRL but where in 2025 will they be from.Pacifika 45% slowing & the wonderful Indegenous15%..We need to address the 7.5 million not born here.

For 25 years Roy Miller with Manos host Mick Ellison, ,Geoff Smith & I met at Manos Main Beach even closed then re-opened.We did at times action our beliefs as a small group we could still influence the descision makers. "Rocky at Manos" remains a diary we carriy with us always

Jim was the master of the Showground but 56.8 secs was his best time, achieved at the back end of the 1971/1972 season, riding a 2-valve JAWA, with alleged use of nitro. Phil Crump set the final track record of 56.0 secs during the 1975/1976 season on a 4-valve bike. (1)

Very interesting article from a 1970 Aussie Speedway magazine about the great Jim Airey attempting to break the Sydney Showground track record (using the later banned 'nitro'). Any Aussie Speedway fans know if he managed it?

Crump set the Showground record on a very grippy track & Phil scooted around the inside on his 4-valve bike like he was on rails. Jim rode up high against the boards in the dirt on his 2-valve bike. The 4-valve was a quicker bike. (2)
