@CatholicCharm The issue is that both secular and Catholic media have vastly overplayed the narrative that Pope Leo XIV is some sort of pro-mass immigration hack. The @Pontifex account so far has completely left the context of His Holiness words out of its posts & been pretty reckless in its…

@ajlamesa America is going to use the “surrendered to third world criminals” casus belli when it has to military occupy Europe again, after they decide to expel all the US bases. This is just narrative establishment.

Europe has significantly less violent crime than the United States. Large countries like Germany, Spain, and Italy have homicide rates only a little bit higher than Japan’s. This is a bizarre lie.

@RealDonKeith @RickPamplin So much for separation of church and state. Churches expect the government to stay out of their business, but then they spend their entire time getting into ours. And Catholics are the biggest HYPOCRITES of them all.

@__Injaneb96 @VictorishB123 And he's still right, but he's way too lenient. Also, your logic is flawed. You think that Iran in the 1970s or Germany in the 1930s is the same as Chad, Africa, or Somalia? That's where YOU are wrong. Think about that.

Einstein was born in Germany. When the Nazis took over, he fled to America and ended up giving the world (and the US) way more than he ever took. Maryam Mirzakhani grew up in Iran, did her undergrad at Aryamehr University (my alma mater), then came to the US and became the first woman to win the Fields Medal in math. By your logic, neither of them should’ve ever been allowed in America. Think about that.

A useful way to think about migration is to consider what kind of societies the migrants have built in their home countries and to what extent you would like those conditions replicated here.

@ShaneSchaetzel Shane, I think we may be entering a stage in American Politics, when we will hear a Pope who challenges us, both Democrats & Republicans, to live according to our Catholic Teaching, if they are open, we will see more Catholics move to the center, that center is who elects POTUS .

The feud between President Trump and Pope Leo is about more than just international politics. It is perfectly normal for any pope to preach out against war, and criticize those politicians who are engaging in war. Don’t believe me? Look back in history for 1000 years and see for yourself. The only thing that’s unusual about all of this, is Donald Trump‘s reaction, which was just petty and infantile. All he had to do was the same as George W. Bush when Pope John Paul II criticized him about the Iraq War. All he had to do was say “I disagree“ and move on. Instead, Trump chose to make a personal attack on the pope, and that’s when things started to go sideways. Trump‘s personal attack on the pope ignited something that was simmering beneath the surface in MAGA. That something was and is anti-Catholicism. Now, before you react, hear me out…👇🏻 Catholics are becoming a growing part of both.MAGA and the Republican Party. Catholics make up 21% of MAGA, and 19% of the GOP. So it’s about 20% of Republicanism overall, just to make numbers easy. That’s historical actually. The Republican Party has never had this many Catholics in it before. Traditionally and historically, the Republican Party has always been a staunchly Protestant party. It was President Richard Nixon, who opened the doors, of the Republican Party, to Catholics and invited them in. And it was Ronald Reagan who saw the greatest influx of Catholics into the Republican Party during the 1980s. Still, Catholics remained a small minority in the Republican Party, well under 20%, until just recently. Now, as of about 2020 onward, one in every five Republicans is Catholic. The Republican Party has never seen this before. And while most Republicans are perfectly fine with this, there is a small segment of hard-core Evangelical Protestants who are starting to feel very uncomfortable. A miniature version of this explosion happened a few weeks ago when Senator Ted Cruz retweeted an article posted by an 𝕏 user that goes by the name “Insurrection Barbie.” This anti-Catholic influencer with millions of followers, framed traditional-Catholic teaching on politics as extreme, bigoted and dangerous. As explosive as that event was, it was relatively small and contained compared to what is happening right now. President Trump’s comments, though personal and directed specifically at Pope Leo, have unintentionally tapped into growing tensions within the Republican Party over the influence of Catholics. I can tell you how this will end. It’s very predictable. Catholics are not going to leave the Republican Party. While some Evangelicals within the GOP (not all but some) would prefer Catholics go back to the Democratic Party “where they belong,” the overwhelming vast majority of Evangelicals, particularly the anti-Catholic ones, are going to have to learn how to cope with more Catholic influence. That means the face of the party is going to change, and in time the policies of the party will change as well. This is inevitable. This is going to happen. Most Evangelicals will be able to adapt. A few of them will not. Those who cannot cope will either go to a third-party, like the Constitution Party for example, or else they will go independent. But I imagine, however, by the time this all blows over, that will be a very small number.

@wet_mogwai @StateCitizen @ShaneSchaetzel you are right but for the wrong reasons. the Catholic church has basically shed all of its left wing parishoners and the only people who go to mass now are right wingers. the pope wants those people out and wants them replaced with foreigners who will vote democrat.

@ShaneSchaetzel WRONG. The pope using a direct political attack against a sitting President is not a characteristic of past Papal critiques. Look at the preceding facts Axelrod and Soros audiences but rejecting the administration. Not the usual path.
