My father, Professor Jonathan Coleman, died peacefully at home this afternoon. I’ve never been entirely sure how old he was, but I think he was 86. Or 85. He’d been living with dementia for years, and was patiently cared for by my stepmother. I feel strangely calm about it.

It’s a record! Today the #kakapo population reached 216 - the highest in living memory. The previous maximum was 213 in 2019. The population will keep growing for the next few weeks as this year’s chicks reach juvenile age. #kakapo2022 #conservation #parrots

This was to be a tweet praising @derbyshiredales for letting a beautiful meadow grow on a steep slope at Matlock's leisure centre. Yesterday at least 8 wildflower species; bumblebees; swifts overhead. Tonight all gone: mowed into lifeless 'neat & tidy'. Sad start to #30DaysWild
