A note on Hubert Davis and #UNC. I was at UNC BBall camp in 2012, Hubert Davis’ first offseason as an assistant. One evening, I heard someone walk past my door in Granville. I poked my head out and made eye contact with Hubert down the hall and quickly closed the door. Hubert trotted towards the room and knocked. My buddy and I thought we were in some trouble for being up “late.” We opened the door and Hubert stood and talked to us for more than 5 minutes. An actual, genuine conversation. “Where are you from? What made you pull for the Tar Heels? How’s your family (that he didn’t know).” It meant a lot to young boys who knew him from ESPN. Both our parents were floored when we called and told them what happened. That night gave my dad nine years of confidence that Hubert was UNC’s head coach in waiting. No one wanted this to work more than the Carolina Family. Hubert is the embodiment of Carolina Basketball. He honored the university and the program’s lore as well as anyone could. He’s a good man. However, results matter, and although UNC never truly fell off under his watch, the Heels simply weren’t good enough. That’s what makes this so hard.

I love Hubert Davis he is absolutely the embodiment of Carolina basketball but the times they coached were very different

Hubert Davis ACC win percentage as UNC head coach: .694 Roy Williams ACC win percentage as UNC head coach: .693 The white guy coached for 18 years. They fired the black guy after 5 years despite making the national title in his first season.

Kansas coach Bill Self told me that there is no truth to the fact that he will announce his retirement today. Said he is still in process of making a decision on his future.

Right so I go back to, if you really believe self had zero knowledge of the payments or any payments to players then you’re assuming he has no control of the program, staff or the players. Which I really don’t think is true, considering Self’s HOF career. Kansas was hit with penalties and Kansas suspended self so Idk what suspension you’re saying “they agreed to” that was their choice to do so.

So he served a 4 game suspension in 2022 for something he was never investigated for at anytime? Them having his text messages with the reps at the time isn’t any sort of investigation? I mean cmon how gullible are you😂 if you REALLY believe bill self had nothing to do with those payments to the players and had ZERO knowledge of the payments then you’re accepting he has ZERO institutional knowledge or control of his team, staff or his entire program altogether which I don’t think any Kansas fan or college basketball fan in general believes hall of fame head coach bill self is so ignorant he had ZERO knowledge of any payments or what the were for.
